House Finch?
We had four or five of these foraging in the backyard around dinner time. When I cracked the back door and peeked out, they scattered - most of them up on the back fence.
This one glanced back for a moment or two and then took off.
I think they were House Finches.
California towhee, on the ground this time where they appear to be more comfortable.

Dark-eyed junco: don’t see these often, and w hen I do they’re normally on the ground and very timid (will run under a bush or away as soon as they see me). This one jumped up into our small tree and watched me.
