May Day Strong: We are the Many :ExtinctionRebellion:

Date and time: Thu, May 1, 7:00am-9:00am
Location: The Crossroads, Sport Hill Road & Congress Street, Fairfield, CT 06825

Across the country—from fruit fields in California to classrooms in Chicago, from kitchens in Queens to loading docks in Atlanta—working people are rising up. We are demanding a country that puts our families over their fortunes—public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, housing over homelessness.

Musk, Trump and their fellow profiteers are trying to create a race to the bottom—on wages, on benefits, on dignity itself. They want to erase labor rights, break our unions, and silence immigrant voices.

May Day 2025 we are standing united. We're organizing for a world where every family has housing, healthcare, fair wages, union protection, and safety—regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status.

They’re defunding our schools, privatizing public services, attacking unions, and targeting immigrant families with fear and violence. This is a war on working people—and we will not stand down. Using the principles of nonviolence and peaceful protest, we will stand together and stand strong.

This May Day, we will turn the page. This is the beginning of a new era—one where working families lead, immigrants are protected, and no one is left behind. This is not charity. This is not a request. We are reclaiming our power from corporate elites, and we will not be intimidated by Trump, Musk, or their billionaire backers. They’ve ruled for too long. Their time is up.

STOP THE BILLIONAIRE TAKEOVER. WE ARE THE MANY. THEY ARE THE FEW. THIS IS MAY DAY. JOIN US. 🌱 :ExtinctionRebellion:

”Världen över integreras nu miljö- och klimataktivismen med människorättsaktivismen. Baserat på samma grundläggande insikt som tycks ha lett påven i hans kall: att allt hänger ihop.”

I find this very inspiring. It's part of a manifesto from the Postgrowth Cities Coalition...

With our eyes set on a postgrowth world, we must promote:

1) Residential buildings that no longer contribute to environmental destruction, but instead catalyze human and ecological flourishing by helping to build communities and reduce the consumption of resources and energy.

2) Transport systems that are no longer produced by environmentally destructive machines, but instead prioritize ecological and social sustainability, granting people access to healthy food, care, and meaningful social engagement.

3) Institutions that cease fetishizing private property as a right, but instead pursue forms of autonomy and democracy that center on essential needs such as social care, health, meaningful social engagement, and human well-being.

What is important in life?

Is it to have the best car and the newest smartphone, or is it to be happy?

Is it to have a high-paid job, or is it to spend time with loved ones and enjoy the beauties of nature?

For critics, degrowth is not very appealing. According to them, it means impoverishment, restraint, scarcity, austerity, or recession. It is seen as a project to reduce the overall prosperity of individuals and societies.

In contrast, I argue that degrowth aims to achieve abundance, prosperity, and richness.

Degrowth is about building societies in which everyone is rich – without much material.

It is impossible to promise everyone to achieve high levels of consumption. Indeed, that would lead to environmental and societal catastrophes. It would also be extremely unfair, as those most suffering from environmental degradation are already the most marginalised.

Instead, degrowth aims to achieve an abundance that does not entail high levels of consumption: a ‘frugal abundance’.

🌍 I'll be speaking at the Climate Obstruction in Finance WG on April 24 at 4 pm GMT (11 am EST / 5 pm CET). I'll discuss how financial firms perform accountability for their carbon emissions without truly addressing them. Join us to explore who gets called to account for carbon emissions in finance.
