The #firebug #Pyrrhocoris apterus is widespread throughout much of #Palearctic. Adults and the five nymphal stages tend to #aggregate. They are #soildwellers and feed on plant #seeds, occasionally also on insect eggs. Some mite species can be on the bugs, with the #parasitic #mite #Hemipteroseius adleri being particularly specialized for it.

In a short exchange with @jankatins I was stimulated to figure out a concise answer to needing to grab the previous or the upcoming non-null value in a column in PostgreSQL, in the order decided by the user, which would be similar to using `lead` and `lag` with the non-supported IGNORE NULLS directive.

The implementation I came up with nears poetry in its simplicity and elegance: gist.github.com/diraneyya/4455

previous() and upcoming() are window functions that permit the user to easily retrieve the previous or the upcoming non-null value within a column - USAGE.md

It's 2024 and still, no easy way to #aggregate your data from multiple #health and #fitness #sensors without relying on 3rd party proprietary solutions.

Imagine you've been saving your data for years but then your sensor needs to be replaced but the sensor is made by another manufacturer, a new data silo is formed because most companies force you to only use their solution or big tech sync.

Here's a paper on the topic from 2018. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/

PubMed Central (PMC)Bringing Health and Fitness Data Together for Connected Health Care: Mobile Apps as Enablers of InteroperabilityA transformation is underway regarding how we deal with our health. Mobile devices make it possible to have continuous access to personal health information. Wearable devices, such as Fitbit and Apple’s smartwatch, can collect data continuously ...

A quotation from Hugo, Victor:

«
The greatest follies, like the stoutest ropes, are often composed of a multitude of strands. Take the cable thread by thread, take separately each petty determining motive, and you can snap them one by one and say, “There’s no more to it than that!” Braid them and twist them together, and what you have is momentous.

Can anyone recommend a #FOSS / #FLOSS solution that will #aggregate my personally collected #health and #Fitness #data? It should be able to:

1. Be #Accessible to the general public - both code (#GPL) and #ux
2. Automate the collection of data from multiple sources (some basic ETL)
3. Reformat the data into a standardized format like [#OpenmHealth](openmhealth.org/documentation/)
4. Provide #datavisualization tools using modern techniques
5. NOT owned by Big Tech (esp., #gMafia )
6. #Decentralized
