あたい は 失読症 が 有 しません。夫 は 板前 が ありません なのに、彼 の 料理 法 が 励 ますよ。
atai ha shitsudokushou ga yuu shimasen. otto ha itamae ga arimasen nanoni, kare no ryourihou ga hagemasu yo.
I don't have dyslexia / am not dyslexic. My hubby isn't a high-end Japanese chef but even so, his food cheers people up.

でもね。英語人に言えない（または言うのが難しい）日本語発音というものだってある。例えば卓球（たっきゅう）。kyuが言えないので「きゆ」つまり「たきゆ」になってしまう。教師だって「きよし）だ。つまり子音ふたつある日本語発音のky, hy, gyなどの子音「両方」をはっきり読んでしまうからなんだな。おもしろい。

カタカナの「シット」。犬のしつけなどで「シット」お座り！の意味で使うし、現在では座り込みのことを「シットイン」と言うこともあるらしい。これは「日本語のシで発音すると」Shiに近くなり当然卑猥な悪口言葉だ。クソッタレだ。いくらなんでもこれはマズイ。

英語のsi（sit, singleなど）とci（city, cinemaなど）は日本語で「すすすすすすーーー」と言いながら「舌先からの息」をそのままに、唇を横に引いて「し」と息を出すと近い音が出る。日本語の「し」は舌先ではなく口の真ん中で出す音だから全く違う。やってみようね。

最近ずいぶんと色々なところで見かけて気になったので、ひとつだけ。

Helpという動詞は「手伝う」と訳されるんだけど、「わたしの仕事を手伝ってください」を直訳でPlease help my work とするのは間違い。英語だとPlease help me with my work です。でもネイティブでPlease help me with the workとする人もいるようです。

イギリス英語とアメリカ英語の発音の違い。オマケはロンドン下町英語。

そうかアメリカ英語はtがdになるんだ…。ロンドン英語がどうしてよく理解できないのかわかった。tが消えちゃっている。

オーストラリア英語は他英語圏との違いが色々あるけれど、tに関してはイギリス英語と同じ発音だね。

これ面白い。マイアミでは英語をネイティブに話す人の割合はわずか 25% で、日々の表現にスペイン語の影響が浸透して独自の英語ができあがりつつあるという記事。たとえば「列で待つ」は標準的な米語だと "wait in line" だけど、マイアミでは（おそらくスペイン語の "hacer cola" の直訳の）"make a line" が聞かれるらしい。

rubberはイギリス英語（オーストラリア英語含む）では「消しゴム」のことです。アメリカ英語の「コンドーム」ではありません。

教室では当たり前のように使う「消しゴム」ですが、オーストラリアの高校で教え始めたとき「「ねえ、rubber貸して！」という生徒同士の会話に「はあ？」とうろたえた思い出。
