A quotation from Robert Ingersoll

The real Bible is not the work of inspired men, nor prophets, nor apostles, nor evangelists, nor of Christs. Every man who finds a fact, adds, as it were, a word to this great book. It is not attested by prophecy, by miracles or signs. It makes no appeal to faith, to ignorance, to credulity or fear. It has no punishment for unbelief, and no reward for hypocrisy. It appeals to man in the name of demonstration. It has nothing to conceal. It has no fear of being read, of being contradicted, of being investigated and understood. It does not pretend to be holy, or sacred; it simply claims to be true. It challenges the scrutiny of all, and implores every reader to verify every line for himself. It is incapable of being blasphemed.

Robert Green Ingersoll (1833-1899) American lawyer, agnostic, orator
Lecture (1874-05-03), “Heretics and Heresies,” Free Religious Society, Kingsbury Hall, Chicago

Scriptures for healing:

I've noticed that whatever I gather with my eyes and ears, is what my mind has to ruminate on all day.

Those thoughts become words and affect the mood of my home and the depth of my relationships.

The Bible teaches that "we are what we eat" spiritually. It seems so simple and straightforward, and yet hard to do in a world where news of doom and gloom is so readily accessible. This junk food for the soul isn't doing our bodies any favors!

(Philippians 4:4-9 CSB)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
6 Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable -- if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy -- dwell on these things.
9 Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

(Proverbs 17:22 CSB)
22 A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

(Proverbs 25:25 CSB)
25 Good news from a distant land is like cold water to a parched throat.

I pray that we all enjoy a healthy and peaceful Resurrection Day weekend. :)

“Told again and again that they are the dominant sex, created to rule over and have dominion over not just women but the earth, the land, its animals, and all things on earth—it's often a rude awakening for young, white Christian men when they enter the world and find that most created things are not interested in being ruled over by them.”

(continued from /5):

"On first read, maybe you'd think that means we're taught that we look like God. But ‘no one has ever seen God,’ so when you learn that you're created in God's image—as most young, white Christian boys and men have learned—then it makes sense that you think, ‘God must look like me.’”

“Many white American Christians are pretty sure they know what God looks like. Most of us won't really say it explicitly, of course: that would invite critique and the possibility that one of our most closely held but unexamined truths could be exposed as false. But most of us heard growing up that we were created in God's image."
