1968 Flying Aviator in Uniform

The image shows a woman dressed in a navy flight suit, standing in front of an airplane.
She appears to be looking to the side with a slight smile, and her gaze seems directed towards something off-camera.
The woman's posture suggests confidence, and she is wearing the standard uniform for aviators in the U.S.
Navy.

@hlashbrooke Thanks for the tip! I am very much trying to limit the amount of extra plugins I'm using both to reduce bloat, and to hopefully keep costs down. I'm using #JetEngine to do all the CPTs, taxonomies and filters so will be keeping that one though :)

Also #Mausritter is so cute, haven't gotten it to the table yet, but looking forward to it! I've now added the library to my bookmarks!

"A conventional jet engine uses lots of moving parts. Rotating blades draw in air and compress it before igniting it with fuel in a combustion chamber, creating rapidly expanding hot gases that blast out of the rear. As the gases exit they drive a turbine, which keeps the whole process going."

Have you noticed how some truckers deliberately make their truck spew out dirty pollution to 'own the environmentalists'? Well they could take it to the next level and use this, except I think the fuel use would bankrupt them.... #concorde #jetengine

This stuff is so fascinating. I could be watching videos with closeups of turbine engines for hours.

It is hard to find information on the web with drawings where the curvature of compressor blades and the matching stator vanes are shown correctly. And the fact that Rolls-Royce engines rotate clockwise (when looking from the front) while GE ones rotate counter-clockwise, and other manufacturers follow either convention, increases possible confusion.

Haha, the person who made this drawing in 1951 did not really understand how air passes through a jet engine compressor The air goes *through* the space of the blades and vanes. That is the point. The air does not carefully zig-zag around them as in this drawing. The gap between the rotating and static parts is supposed to be as small as possible, the amount of air that passes there is minimised . But they at least got the idea of separate stator vanes and rotating blades. #aviation #JetEngine
