Forgot to post this during the relevant holiday. Here's my #3dprinting and #acrylic #painting titled Cathedral, designed using a 3D simulation of a spring lattice. See more at https://www.postminart.co.uk/282/cathedral/

Under 24 hours to the completion of #3dPrinting our topographical map of Ellijay and we’re at 54mm of 100mm total height.
Tried some Sainsmart TPU on the Core One with mixed success, but this was with stock settings and no tweaking so I'm still calling it a good first attempt. Looks great in many ways but has a lot of trouble with overhangs/bridges. Probably needs lower temps to start with, but that's for another day.
This is 95A hardness TPU so still fairly stiff. I printed other things (like PTFE fitting plugs) and those are great, but I may want a roll of something softer before trying it again.
The May MakerDeck IRL Mixer meetup date has been set! https://www.meetup.com/makerdeck/events/307427217/ (and we're always welcoming makers from around the world to stream with us live 24/7 on the https://twitch.tv/MakerDeck Twitch channel)!
He's a rebel, Dottie! Another @Playactiontoys Star Wars action figure 3D printed live on https://twitch.tv/MakerDeck this weekend!
Something's not right, the first 2-3 layers go well and then every Z increase is an audible jolt.
Not happening with manual moves, and this is with an existing gcode file that worked.
The Z-axis does run much smoother now so maybe I do need to adapt parameters

Sorry #OpenSCADClub but I've been slammed with work lately! Here's a thing I did a while back I finally got around to posting.
I'm wondering if anyone has a better way of doing a 3D printed cutter design by loading in an SVG file...
(Code is the same for each example, only the SVG is different.)

Function Playground v1.2 is live!
This update brings several small (but mighty!) improvements that make designing 3D vases easier, smoother, and even more fun. From direct input access to live rotation in the preview—it’s all about flow and flexibility.

A while back I shared some pics of some music/sound-making devices I've been messing around with, with the idea of a 'sociology/ethnomethodology of sound' in mind (https://mastodon.online/@pdbrooker/114314254754067833). Using devices and maker-skills as a way to engage with the social life of technology and objects broadly, and sound specifically. I've sort of expanded on this a little (thread incoming!) and would love to know peoples' thoughts as these things develop!
A slight distraction from #3dprinting ...
I need two M16x1.5 screws, made from alumin(i)um or steel, ideally anodized/coated in black.
The Chinese #CNC services are quoting $25-50 per piece, excluding shipping.
I'm pretty sure this should be much cheaper to produce on a metal #lathe, alas I don't have access to one.
If someone knows the approximate price for #turning that screw on a lathe, or can offer access to one in the #Munich area, I'd appreciate it.
Re-toot appreciated

Speed Bin-chy!
I needed another bolt storage bin, and for funsies I decided to apply my very-high-speed profile I've been tuning. So, it looks like I can get a 1x1x6 Gridfinity parts storage bin in about 16 minutes.
Plus it makes fun turntable-scratch noises while it goes! Here's an actual-speed video. Sorry about the focus, my phone has _no idea_ how to handle something moving around like this.
(If you're curious, the limiting factor is actually the viscosity of the particular plastic. Any faster and it starts under-extruding.)
