@mempko over last few days I deleted all my #amazon and #meta accounts. I don't have anything to do with #musk for over two years since he took over #twitter. Seeing #google CEO happily sitting in the first row last night motivates me to delete all #goggle accounts rather sooner than later. But this one will be very complicated and will require more thinking/planning from my side. Could you give me some advices please? Already running #nextcloud.

Is Android suppressing notifications from apps that don't use its push notification servers by design, rather than through neglect of nonstandard UX?

"On Thursday, the tech giant announced that its AI-generated search summaries will now begin to show ads above, below, and within them, as a way of demonstrating that the technology is capable of actually making money."
@omgubuntu I do not use OneDrive from Microsoft. Instead, I use Google Drive.
GNOME 3.18 added the ability to access Google Drive directly from Gnome Files. To use this feature, all you have to do is add your Google account to GNOME Online Accounts and enable "Files."

Google ist ein arroganter Gockel #goggle #freud
@Linuxkumpel @MetaGer sehr interessanter Artikel. Vorallem das die #Suchmaschine #Yandex eine größere Informationsvielfalt bietet als #Goggle und #Bing, das hätte ich nicht erwartet.
@lrhodes I'm deeply conflicted about this, I want federation with big services, I think that is part of the raison d'etre of #activitypub.
But I know the risks, I'm old enough to remember #Microsoft embracing and extinguishing the browser, #Goggle defederating from #XMPP and #Facebook predatory tactics.

Goggle's "Web Integrity" project has been widely condemned as a trojan horse for bringing DRM crippleware to the web. The battle against it has been won. But the war against Goggle's attempt to iThing-ize Android continues;

Hopefully the EU Digital Markets Act is about to do exactly the opposite to iThings. Forcing Goggle to get with the times.
"On August 31, [2021], South Korea’s National Assembly passed a revision to the Telecommunications Business Act, imposing curbs on the payment policies of Google and Apple. Those policies require app developers to use only the tech giants’ proprietary payment systems on their mobile operating systems ... The bill allows developers to use other payment options."

I doubt I'm the first person to mention this here, but it's finally happened; Goggle has imposed a storage quota of 15GB on gratis accounts. So one of the biggest advantages of using their services without paying - eternal, unlimited storage - is now toast. Could FarceBook be next? I wonder if this might be an opportunity for platform cooperatives to pitch modestly-priced services as a replacement for both?
