One would think that digital image organizing is a solved problem by now but it's still a hassle.

"Lightroom Classic", only on the desktop.

"Lightroom", everywhere but missing basic features like syncing your albums everywhere, had to find out through some forum posts that "smart albums" just don't sync, while regular ones do. Multiple export presets apparently don't exist?

None of them have a workflow to integrate with iCloud Photos. Recommendations?

Just edited a short story where the main character was clearly an author insert but I was experiencing a whole new culture and intersectional story so felt as if everything was fresh, so now I think readers don't know the difference between an author insert and a Mary Sue. Besides, this author insert died at the end after having absolutely nothing go right for him, at all, in the story so, well, I wanted to give the writer a hug because if he thinks this is his future he needs one! #Editing #Editor

Just did an edit of an episode of @retroadventurers.bsky.social yesterday, and I have to say there's a very rough sort of experiential bias this causes. I spent so long zooming in on regions where participants momentarily tripped over their own tongues, lost their trains of thought, or otherwise flubbed up. I played these bits over and over to find just the right section to mute or cut out. It left me with a false memory that everyone had just made a hash of it.

I just played the full episode in the background while doing other things, and I was left thinking "Gosh, this is a great episode!" I'd love to take credit for a stellar edit or whatever, but really it was just obvious: these were all the bits I wasn't focusing on the previous day, run end-to-end! #InteractiveFiction #podcast #Audacity #editing

Approaches to Annotation: Insights & Challenges Editing Hogg & Woolf
15 May, University of Glasgow – free

Dr Megan Coyer & Dr Annie Strausa will reflect on two major textual editing projects. What are the different challenges faced by editors annotating modernist short fiction versus short fiction (& poetry) from a late Romantic-era periodical?
