"Big Winner" 2025/04/22

Take your guess, pick your ballot.
Truth is an imaginary guessing game.
The winning number is out there, somewhere.
Hope you're ready to buy a bunch of tickets.
Because even after you've expended your energy
on such a menial and fruitless quest like this,
you still turn up dry and decide to give up.
But I unfortunately am addicted to this game.

"Can a Video game make you cry" used to be this Big Topic Of Debate, then meme. I get people who dislike "can u cry" being the measure of "it's good", but people were oddly proud of not-crying.

I like crying, sometimes. It's a feeling, I like feelings. It means I really felt something, really got into a story, it's characters. #LikeADragon Infinite Wealth made me cry, it was a good cry. Recommended

I left "crying is bad" in the trash with my other edgy teen stuff

Hi. I'm TOO MUCH.

I've spent a lifetime making myself smaller for everyone.

Making myself the version of me that was most useful and comfortable for everyone around me.

And I *HAVE* to stop before I disappear.

I wrote about learning to TAKE UP SPACE: fromemily.com/space-taking-def

Maybe you've made yourself smaller too? Let's TAKE UP SPACE together.

@actuallyautistic

...from Emily Moran BarwickI’ve Spent a Lifetime Making Myself Smaller and I HAVE to Stop Before I Disappear (or “How Buying an Oversized ‘Everyday’ Bag Was a Revolutionary Act of Space-Taking Defiance”)I'm learning I'm allowed to take up space. (And doing it with one BIG-ASS-BAG.)

Kevin Kodama thinks there is a way for authors to have their #AI cake and eat it too.

> The Future of #Fantasy is Sakug(AI). How GenAI might transform fantasy literature without destroying the human element. synthesizedsunsets.substack.co

I'm not going to TL;DR this for you, but his argument is: People are going to use AI tools for creative endeavors anyway, so we need to find ways to ethically incorporate AI content; and then he illustrates one such way for Fantasy literature.

Tybalt stopped. He turned with a casualness she envied, smiling, even smirking a little. Not unkindly but teasingly. If Tybalt didn't like someone, Felicia thought, they would know. They would probably also be dead.

That was something they had in common, she thought.

When her eyes stopped watering, she realized how close they stood in the dark. She could smell the peppery-cinnamony scent on his clothes.

The warmth didn't bother Tybalt even if the rain did. Maybe he was worried about his clothes? More so than his sister, he cared about presentation. An open black silk shirt and a textured red scarf thrown around. He obviously wasn't cold. He just thought it looked cool.

As the Prince of Cats, he had a certain reputation to uphold, you know?
