Endemm project update:

1. The DVD ripping tool can now rip more DVDs.
2. Writing codecs will become easier.
3. ffmpeg linking in progress.

It has been some time since I last wrote about endemm - encoder and decoder for multimedia. Several things are work in progress to give the project a solid base before a plan for a first release can be made. I will highlight them in the comments to this post.

I've enjoying playing Returnal on Fedora. Due to the lack of h264 video decoding, the cutscenes that are 4K .mp4 are really choppy. Now this is plain evil by Bigme folks. You really have a daemon that checks for adb and disables it every boot? So you have to go to developer options all the time to re-enable it manually? And then have a check for a file on the sdcard to re-enable it automatically? Why?

Want adb enabled when you plug in the USB cable? create a xrzadbtest123456 file on /mnt/sdcard/ and you are good to go.

I made a new #thesis-art. The thesis is hidden in the drawer, but the #artwork is there for all to see.

In his work, Hannes investigated correlations of #decoding #brain activity (#EEG) across tasks, and surprisingly showed that there is no (or very little of) such correlation.

In the piece, I plotted, using the letters and words of his #thesis, the stereotypical filters for the different cognitive tasks.

@dmoren I know you have a Mac Mini with the #hevc acceleration for #encoding and #decoding. I’m looking to get one but I wanted you to know: does this accelerate “hardware” encoding only? Ie: only when you use video toolbox…or does it accelerate any king of encoding? (Ie: when you start encoding in general, the Mx CPU recognizes this and shunts it to that #HEVC engine?)
