@signalapp As a supporter of #Signal, it is important to point out a key detail: Signal's own code is #OpenSource, but Signal uses multiple #proprietary libraries from #Google. Those cannot be scrutinized since the source code is not open. We believe Signal should offer an actual open source version, and are ready to help. This exists already in the fork fosstodon.org/@MollyIM Also, apps like #Element #Threema #Wire are #FOSS, and have #ReproducibleBuilds on @fdroidorg #FDroid

Question to the #Matrix people out there. As far as I understand it "Element Calls" is the new Voip standard for Matrix, implemented in #ElementX on Android.

This means that when I use ElementX I can call other ElementX clients. My #Element desktop client doesn't receive the calls and I can't call a ElementX client from the desktop. I don't know the status on iOS as there is no such thing as ElementX as far as I know.

Is there somewhere a overview about the implementation status / roadmap?

Beispielsweise:

* Unsichere Komponenten werden nicht gepatcht
* Sicherheitsfeatures fraglich
* Unternehmen arbeitet nicht mit der OpenSource Community zusammen
* Features werden immer wieder kurzfristig abgeschaltet / geändert
* Kommunikation zwischen Community Matrix Servern immer wieder durch unterschiedliche Versionsstände unmöglich
* Usabilty Probleme

There are tons of Matrix messengers, even there element a.d elementx, schildi, fluffychat, neochat and many many Servers.

Matrix is one of the few systems I know I can directly interact with desktop, videochat.

It is used by govs and military, so there is their need it remains save and secure.
