I'm looking for any experience or recommendations folks are willing to share with electric robot lawn mowers. We have a .6 acre lot, mostly flat, and I'm keen to use @homeassistant and keep things out of the cloud if at all possible (which doesn't seem realistic, unfortunately) #selfhosted #homelab #lawncare #gardening
#TIL about #Glance, a #SelfHosted #dashboard that you can run locally using #docker, and customize in minutes:

I've just upgraded my self-hosted #Listmonk instance to 5.0.0, and I absolutely LOVE the new visual email template builder powered by EmailBuilder.js!
I can't wait to start creating new templates for the candide ꘎ media newsletter

Anyone know if n8n is good as a self-hosted replacement for IFTTT and if it supports mastodon or bluesky?
I've been reading into it since it is self hostable, but some of the AI crap tied to the youtube videos showing it off are turning me off the service. I really don't need that stuff, I just want the ability to link up distinct events from one site to another for my own management using workflows #selfhosted #social_media #mastodon #meta
There’s no place like 172.16.0.0/12
Ich habe mit #n8n, #GoogleSheets & #Mastodon einen automatisierten Posting-Workflow gebaut!
Dank #ngrok läuft OAuth sogar lokal perfekt.
Die Posts werden täglich um 7:30, 12:30 & 17:30 automatisch veröffentlicht.
Mein Lernprojekt für #Automation, #API & #NoCode: komplett self-hosted & flexibel!

Another entry in the niche blog post chronicles: How to install Guacamole for remote desktop connections to Kali Linux.
This is a combo post with both context and guide. Its also the first in a series on migrating from Vagrant/VMWare/Ansible to Proxmox/OpenTofu/Ansible. In it I work through some issues of building Guac on Ubuntu 24.04 and installing TigerVNC on Kali.
This post is a stepping stone on the way to resolving the issue of frequent Kali crashes, though I think of it as only a preparatory step as it deals with a niche issue where SPICE doesn't work for me on Proxmox. I hope to get on to the IaC stuff soon.
Still ripping albums to flac format, but hot damn is #navidrome pretty.
High time I put this workstation to one of the side tasks it was explicitly built for: ripping media.
yesterday I solved my streaming audio needs thanks to help from #SelfHosting / #selfhosted / #selfhost / #selfhostedapps, huge thank you to everyone who chimed in!
Today, I am running dual instances of grip +cdparanoia + flac and encoding CDs en masse. I actually put two CD/DVD drives in this thing just for this purpose.
And again, Mastodon coming down for no apparent reason, aside from the fact I was trying to export some rss feed a bit hastily
I really have to fix this promtail deployment to do some delayed debugging
Every once in a while, I read my old blog posts that link to other articles or blogs. 99% of those sites are now offline or show a domain-for-sale page. It kind of makes me sad. Most of my own websites are still online after 20+ years. I wonder why they gave up.
That being said, this instance will be online forever - I'll make sure of it. Even after my passing, I want it to live on. My websites have survived even when hosting companies went bankrupt, and so will this instance.
