Let's talk about the supernatural side of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. Loads of spoilers.

My normal approach of "copy a Zelda II enemy to the letter, and then add a new twist on the mechanic to differentiate them" was fine for other enemies, but for one as complex as Iron Knuckle, it was totally the wrong way to go, because I could never get the nuances of IK's behavior figured out.
Going step by step through how *I* wanted him to behave, and then tweaking it until it was right, was the correct approach, and now I have a really fun new enemy.

So I've got my indie TTRPG, that's been in development way too long.
I finally broke up the main tome into 3 books, rulebook, bestiary, world (1 of several). Now I'm pondering if I should pull the GM stuff out, too. Where does it stop? Do I recreate OD&D's Men & Magic, Monsters & Treasures, Underworld & Wilderness Adventures, Greyhawk book cycle? (the game's not very OD&D-like)

Made a short video about how Lost Records focuses on gameplay in a game with "no gameplay". #gameDesign
Lingo Legend's gamification is the polar opposite of Duolingo.
Instead of getting guilt trips and threatening messages, you study to earn points towards running a little farm and going on adventures. It's truly charming and engaging. 2/n

For this week's Creative Code challenge by @sableraph “ Earth”, LayersBeneathEarth is coded in #PuzzleScript, #HydraVideoSynth & #LiveCodeLab.
LayerBeneathEarth Follows a Voyager’s journey through the various layers beneath the Earth. Entering a dungeon that seems to never end and is constantly changing. This is done through the game engine, PuzzleScript , the effects of Hydra and the 3d audiovisual components of LiveCodeLab.While also having earthy colors in the visual concepts.
Voyaging to the Layers
Senses have to adjust
Below the Depths of the Craters
Nothing to impress
As the goal
Is simple
Clearing the levels
Regardless of the elements
The pivots,
Incurred through the found metals
What these Layers Hold?
Tom Francis posted a video with his thoughts on #BluePrince.
I'm at the 24-hour mark in my playthrough, and I pretty much agree with him on everything. The 'rng' is for the most part not a problem at the beginning of the game, but as your TODO-list shrinks, it can get to be annoying.
Anyway, it's spoiler-free (IMO) so check it out below. Also revealing tidbits about his next title:

Sometimes u learn the hard way that locking the frame rate is just better than letting it cap at whatever the system can handle, only to be dragged down by almost everything. Hey but it's good practice for optimization though!
Guess it's really everyday discovering something brand new.

Weird question.. there's a word or phrase, japanese I think, for a game mechanic where players will contribute to a global goal (but not in a multiplayer fashion)
Does anyone know it? I feel like it is a word repeated twice like kakukaku or something?
(I feel like it starts with an M though)
Any help appreciated, it's eating my brain!

We've been so focused on game development that we hadn't had time to upload new images to our gallery. But good news — we just uploaded a new folder for our higher-tier Patrons to enjoy!
Access to these previews is part of the Chloe tier and above, but only if you don't mind spoiling parts of the story.
As we mentioned, only Chloe-level Patrons (and higher) can check out some exclusive sketches from the upcoming release. Just a heads-up: there are massive spoilers in these images! You might even spot some unfamiliar faces... but please, don't ask — just enjoy!

The 0.22 update is planned for mid-May, though it might take a little longer. As you’ll see in the gallery, this is shaping up to be a big release with a ton of new images. What’s there now is just a bit more than half of what's coming, so there’s still plenty of work ahead!
