The very fashionable @Tatjna posted about this book that was Kickstartered last year. I pledged, it looked cool. It arrived last week.

It's a beautiful book, and I think a few people I know here may find it interesting and useful (@pjf I expect and likely more!): it shows historical context & archaeological evidence, and provides how-to's for fibre making, tool making, and garment making.

🧶🧶🧶 OohLaLa! Did my 1st ever Italian bind off!

Avoided it, ever since I started knitting again. The whole knit then purl skip stitch then purl the knit but leave on needle then go between then whaaat? All with a tapestry needle.

Proud to say a. I did it, and b. It really does look good. I love the way there is basically no edge, stitches just disappear into the air. Hmm, might be my new go-to.

I'm playing fast and loose with the yarn cos I don't have any DK weight stuff, and you are supposed to double it anyway, and this yarn I do have is super cute and super soft.

I know this is kind of a longshot questions

But I have a pattern that says to use DK weight but to double-strand it

setting aside that literally all yarn is different, even within categories, what would be a rough equivalent to use as a single strand?

background: I have some chunky yarn I'd like to use in its stead. All else fails I'll just do a swatch and see what happens

Well I’ve run out of purple and the row is about 9” / 23 cm tall

I was thinking I was only going to use 6 colors in a rich, jewel-tone rainbow, but I want it to be longer which means I am going to have to incorporate a few colors I’d intended to exclude

Now to figure out the best way to integrate those other colors. They’re very light in tone and hmmmm. Maybe this will just be an ~ugly~ blanket.

Anyway, progress pic! :yarn: :crochet:
