Exiting, scary, beautiful, fascinating, impressive. </p><p>So kind of a good trip. (Why do I keep thinking that I always have good weather in Iceland? 🤷‍♀️)</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/roadtrip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>roadtrip</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dashcam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dashcam</span></a></p>

Took these photos on our visit to Samuel Jónsson Art Museum in Selárdalur, Westfjords, Iceland six years ago. We met Gerhard König, a German sculptor who led the restoration work there. He was patching some cracks on one of the buildings when we approached him. He told us that every time he patched a crack, another one appeared somewhere else! 🙃

Here's a good article about the museum and the artist: grapevine.is/travel/2018/05/30

We usually go to Iceland in late Spring. It's nesting time, which means it's prime time for Arctic tern attacks. Met this Arctic tern in front of a church on the Strandir coast in Westfjords, obviously not impressed with us for daring to stop there to check out the church. It there was any nest nearby, I didn't see it. But then again, I wasn't outside the car for very long. I ran back into the car right after I took this photo because you don't need to be an ornithologist to tell when an Arctic tern is going after you.

Thunderous

This is gorgeous Dynjandi, it's name derived from the #Icelandic "dynja" meaning "thunder".

Situated in Arnarfjörður in the #Westfjords of #Iceland, this wedding veil of water is the topmost of seven drops.
In total, it tumbles down 100m/328ft of mountainside.
The top falls has this lovely shape - 30m/98ft wide at the top and 60m/197ft at the bottom - due to basalt steps in the rock, which slow down the water and aerate it.

Hard to describe the feeling standing in the sunshine on a 500m cliff, looking down on waves of mist rolling over the sea. Maybe this description from wayfinding.guide helps:
