Ahead of Microsoft's plans to stop supporting MS-Windows 10 in October, and as I didn't want to install the extra-heavy and not so reliable Zindowz 11, I got rid of it and installed Linux Mint on the multimedia PC that I use on my TV (a small customised Intel NUC).
So far, it's just excellent, very stable, fast, easy to install and with a slick interface. 
What else?! 
Linux rocks! 
two more days till my one year anniversary of using #LinuxMint. I have a scheduled post scheduled to go up on that day with my thoughts of using that operating system.

I've got a pretty nice gaming laptop (MSI) than runs Win11. I'm wondering if it's worth it to just throw #linuxmint on it as I've done with my desktop or if I'll need Windows for running presentations or connecting to projection hardware.
I've pre-ordered a Framework 12 for my wife, because she's irritated with her MacBook Air almost daily. I'll put Linux Mint on it if she goes through with the order, which will make her life easier (and let her play her Steam games). It might even replace the iPad whose battery is starting to die, depending on how good the FW12's battery is while playing video.
The MacBook Air will basically pay for the Framework 12 when we resell it.

Allerdings #xsane erkennt den #scanner nicht. Hingegen findet #gnome Document Scanner das treiberlose Gerät im #lan #wlan unter #ubuntu #linuxmint
Wenn man in Linux Mint nach "endless" sucht, kommen lauter coole Spiele, die in der Kategorie "Spiele" überhaupt nicht angezeigt werden. Weiß jemand warum das so ist? @holarse vielleicht? Gibt es noch andere Zauberwörter?

Taking a forced day off for an unplanned upgrade to Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon, as a routine update of Mint 22 broke the system and landed me in the text console with no clue what happened or what to do.
I did a clean install of Mint 22.1 as I had backups but it still takes time to complete the setup.

@Vivaldi I use the feature every day.
I have a laptop that's already a little short on hardware despite the upgrades and #LinuxMint to make it last longer.
The #TabsHibernation allows me to open many tabs and not be penalised by memory limitations; good for computers with oldie HW.
But while the latop keeps running I'll still use it.

I relate. I'm trying to remember all of the distros I tried in 2019...
Il y a maintenant environ 5 ans, j’ai plaqué #apple et me suis tourné vers Linux. Ce fut une excellente décision. J’ai commencé avec #ubuntu , #linuxmint , puis #popos et enfin #cachyos "I use Arch btw" 
Que d’apprentissages depuis !
Et Linux, en plus d’être gratuit et open source, n’est vraiment pas compliqué. De plus, utiliser Linux, c’est aussi dire merde aux #gafam qui financent l’émergence du néo #fascisme et l’arrivée au pouvoir de vieux cons libertariens.

@bsi Ich verstehe, dass einige Leute über die Empfehlung "Windows 11" überrascht sind. Linux sollte in der Tat grundsätzlich empfohlen werden. Trotzdem finde ich es gut, dass Linux überhaupt erwähnt wird. Es könnte eine ermutigendere „Werbung“ für Linux geben. Probieren Sie es zunächst auf einem USB-Stick als Live-System aus und ersetzen Sie dann Windows, wenn Sie zufrieden sind, oder bitten Sie einen Freund, dies zu tun. Weil der Installer von #LinuxMint keine Verschlüsselung bei manuell(!) konfigurierter Partitionierung ermöglicht, hab ich vor einiger Zeit angefangen, alle Rechner auf #Debian umzustellen. Nun bin ich verunsichert, ob das eine gute Idee war, weil ich inzwischen über einige Software und Tutorials gestolpert bin, die zwar mit Ubuntu (und Derivaten) funktionieren, aber nicht mit Debian.

I upgraded from #Windows to #LinuxMint on my main workstation and laptop over a year ago.
Minor learning curve? Yes.
Satisfied I can cover all my daily work? Totally.
With the death of #Finale, the only caveat is that I still boot #Win11 in a locked down VM just to run #Adobe products when I need them to work with client files. Other than that I've found #FOSS alternatives for my internal work.
