Also! Series of updates from me today. 2D Cubism keeps giving me that Java.exe error. It hates wine, I get it, you dislike being forced to work on Linux. Normally this would spell doom for the avatar process BUT!

In my frustrated searches for an answer, or a lick of code I could frankenstein to work, I found the glory of https://inochi2d.com/ which is currently being made by https://bsky.app/profile/lunafoxgirlvt.foxgirls.gay . So instead of crying myself to sleep tonight, I'm going to read through the Wiki and on stream tomorrow we'll mess around and hopefully turn the prototype into a functioning Vtube avatar ... or start to ...

For a brief explanation, it does what 2DCubism does with avatars, and they apparently work with VTube studio. And it works on linux ... via flatpak ... so I'm not needing to dust off my software degree AT ALL. Post stream I ...
- Lost Streamer.bot entirely and had to redo EVERY TRIGGER with a fresh installation
- Lost Steam entirely and had to restart to get it working again
- Bricked my PC twice and had to hard restart

I am, under no circumstances, touching Lutris again. Nothing worked. It gave me Arch installation flashbacks. No thanks. I'll stick with my precious terminal, lines of hand-written code, and wine chugging along on version 10.0 happily. If anything touches my precious streamer.bot again, I'm gonna go full Villian.

Finally (finally…) dipping my toes properly into the waters of #Linux*. I’ve gone with #LinuxMint as a beginner distro and so far so good.

My mother-in-law brought me her computer to fix. It’s a seventh GEN Intel processor running windows 10. She’s retired and I think just uses it for Netflix so it’s probably gonna get Linux mint.

Als ich auf meinem Ubuntu PC #Steam installiert hab, hat es mir erzählt, ich muss noch einen 32bit Treiber installieren und mir genau gesagt, welchen. ich musste die Kommandos nur noch in die Kommandourteile copypasten.

Der #LinuxMint PC der Tochter meckert auch, dass Steam nen 32bit Treiber haben will, aber wie der heißt muss ich wohl ne Hellseherin auf'm Jahrmarkt fragen. Oder das Fediverse.

Ahead of Microsoft's plans to stop supporting MS-Windows 10 in October, and as I didn't want to install the extra-heavy and not so reliable Zindowz 11, I got rid of it and installed Linux Mint on the multimedia PC that I use on my TV (a small customised Intel NUC).
So far, it's just excellent, very stable, fast, easy to install and with a slick interface.
What else?!

two more days till my one year anniversary of using #LinuxMint. I have a scheduled post scheduled to go up on that day with my thoughts of using that operating system.

I've got a pretty nice gaming laptop (MSI) than runs Win11. I'm wondering if it's worth it to just throw #linuxmint on it as I've done with my desktop or if I'll need Windows for running presentations or connecting to projection hardware.

I've pre-ordered a Framework 12 for my wife, because she's irritated with her MacBook Air almost daily. I'll put Linux Mint on it if she goes through with the order, which will make her life easier (and let her play her Steam games). It might even replace the iPad whose battery is starting to die, depending on how good the FW12's battery is while playing video.

The MacBook Air will basically pay for the Framework 12 when we resell it.
