Dear @Mer__edith and the the amazing @signalapp team,

After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.

We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and **your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app** : )

Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.

The #mobileLinux community is growing - we have members spanning a good number of projects and devices, e.g.
- @purism #Librem5 and #LibertyPhone running #Debian-based #PureOS #GnuLinux, #Alpine-based #PostmarketOS or #Mobian,
- @PINE64 #Pinephone and PP Pro running #ManjaroARM, #SailfishOS, etc.
- @furilabs #FLX1 running #Droidian-based #FuriOS,
- a wide variety of Android phones (including OnePlus 6, Google Pixel 3, #Fairphone 4 & 5) running #Alpine-based @postmarketOS ,
- @volla , #Fxtec and #Brax3 devices running #UbuntuTouch by @ubports,
- devices running @mobian which is part of #Debian project, etc.

[Apologies to any project I may have failed to include - you are all appreciated]

F(x)tec Pro¹ X finally arrived. It was sitting in a warehouse for ages, but thankfully the battery was not dead and it powered up. Shipped with Android, but in about 10 minutes work with the UBports installer, had Ubuntu Touch up and running. Yay!

Yes the slide-out keyboard is a bit fiddly, but it seems worth a try and is no worse than a miniature on-screen keyboard.

UB usually takes a few days to get configured right. Updates to follow

OMG, I never thought this day would happen. Only somewhat over 3 years late from original schedule. Now if I can still think of any usage for it, hardware is somewhat out of date since they switched to a worse chipset and, well, time goes on. A mini livingroom tablet?

Certainly the last thing I'm ever buying from a crowdfunding campaign that was supposed to be for daily usage. I went on a shitty old phone for so long waiting for this, eventually giving up and buying a second hand nice handset, with much more modern hardware than this has.

For anyone after a #Psion Agenda-like experience on a #MobileLinux #PDA, I've just released v0.2.9 of #Pygenda (alpha, WIP!).

GitHub: github.com/semiprime/pygenda

v0.2.9 adds two nice new features: repeats like "last Monday in May" and todo item due dates.

I run it on my #GeminiPDA, but it's written in Python/GTK3 so should run on similar keyboard devices. Would love to hear from anyone running it on a #PinePhone, #FXTec #Pro1x, #GPD, #eeePC, #Zaurus, or other!

Stumbled upon this today: community.fxtec.com/topic/3292

While the switch to the Snapdragon 662 is unlikely to negatively impact LineageOS and Ubuntu Touch (I hope), it‘s likely a major bummer for the mainline Linux story, which was looking quite good with the 835. #fxtec #pro1x

@lj_writes well, there's the F(x)tec PRO¹ (which is a horrible name imho to remember and share): fxtec.com/
It has some pretty good specs (6GB RAM, 128GB storage, #dualSIM (or 1 SIM + 1 microSD)), #Android 9 and unlockable bootload. Most importantly: a slide-out, tiltable physical #QWERTY #keyboard complete with numbers row, esc, tab, caps, shift, control, alt, super and symbol, and cursor keys.

But at 729 USD, ex. shipping, it's way outside my budget. :(
