I've asked to #AI, an add-on to export #SubD to #NURBS from #b3d, the add-on managed to export something to both IGES and STEP, there are no errors, the exported files contain data structures but unfortunately any #CAD app managed to open those, although that seem like a failure, it's not, in fact it is the first time that I get an add-on that exports both in #IGES and in #STEP directly from #Blender without using external library, maybe next time I could be able to have a working add-on.
I'm not happy with this, but it was an overrated application, as well as being very expensive, for what it offered, with exceptional marketing behind it, important contacts in the #VFX industry that allowed it to take advantage of an undeserved advantage, in some videos they mocked other applications, but in the end, they decided to stop development, a shame for those who believed in this project. #modo #Foundry #2D #mesh #SubD #b3d #Blender #Blender3D

Just for fun, I've redone it with #SubD and quad topology with edge loops, in #Blender3D, total time 15 minutes. #b3d #Blender
Quick hard surface doodle (subd+bools practice). Textured with #SanctusLibrary
These days I was thinking about subdivision surfaces, which were invented by Ed Catmull to allow greater freedom than #NUBRS in animation, but they have become a tool used everywhere allowing greater freedom, however a concept that has never evolved. I loved the "bicubic patches" applications. #SubD #CAD
The #SubD conversion of #FreeShip into #IGES is still unmatched for me, is an old Pascal code that works perfectly, very light file with surfaces with the same topology of the mesh cages #nurbs #CAD #plasticity3D #Moi3D #b3d #Blender3D #fc3d #opensource

I've just dropped two #propellers done with #SubD in #Blender and converted into #IGES and then to other #CAD formats.
The models in low poly can be used with SubD modifier and they are also UV-mapped too. Useful for your #boats model in every place from #b3d to CADs. #Blender3D #boat #design

However my skill matters because I've tested the same workflow also with #Blender, and the result is convincing. #b3d #propeller #boat #ship #CAD #SubD #Blender3D

When my PC was cooperating, I spent the day doing cleanup, fixes, and getting in some of the more complex forms on the body in subd. So close.
More progress on this diabolical, crash inducing, device. Some fixes to do on the center ring part, but otherwise not long now.
Skipping the zbrush step now that I learned of the remesh modifier workflow. It's slow, but beats constantly hopping between apps.
I am so happy with the result and I also have to share the rear of the stern with the #propellers mounted, before I used models already made or I made them schematic or with #SubD. This is the best I've modeled in #CAD, from now on things are simple. I get it how model a blade with airfoil, next step make one from a real 2D drawing.
I've seen some tutorials on YouTube and those are really bad. #ship #boat #design
A workflow that works with all OS.
From #Blender3D to Plasticity via converting #SubD to Curve then into #Beziér and decimating with adaptive and exporting into #SVG with #LeoMoon Add-on and importing SVG into #FreeCAD and exporting into IGES or STEP and then import into Plasticity, however you can use this workflow your with preferred application.
