Long considered a member of the thrush family, Turdidae, genetic evidence has placed it and its relatives in the Old World flycatcher family, Muscicapidae. When I was a student I was in a music group led by someone called Ria, who lived in Magnolia Street. Naturally, we called the street Magna Ria Street and the director Magna Ria. (She was, in fact, petite in body.)
I don't think there were any actual magnolias there but there are in the center of Deventer.

A magnolia bush in full bloom in a town center. There are some 19th-century houses, a newer building (which is a bookshop), part of the side of a large medieval church, and fencing where the street is broken up. Also some people because it was so busy that waiting for everybody to be out of my shot was kind of pointless.

And it keeps getting better. More of the snow melted elsewhere in the yard, revealing some hyacinths and other bulb plants coming in. I don't remember what I planted where, so we'll find out later what they are.

A little bulb plant barely emerging from the ground. I don't know what kind of flower it is. I planted a whole bunch of different types last year. It's green with an orange tinge at the end

🥹 ecstatic about this one. Ruffle tiered dress, self-drafted, fits just how i wanted. By the bottom tier i was working with an almost 4m long strip of flimsy fabric, but it was so worth it for the massive swoosh effect of the skirt. It feels so good to finally be more comfortable with sewing. Hell, i didn't even have to seam rip anything 🤯 anyway, I've decided that winter is hereby over, purely so i can start wearing this.
