Going through old stuff and these are what I believe are the oldest #sims2 screenshots I have taken. I'm going to say these were around Christmas 2006.
Funny story, I got the Sims 2 Holiday Edition for my birthday in Nov 2006 (I think) and because the Compaq we had was pure garbo.
I had to wait for a time until Christmas 2006 when I got a newer Dell Inspiron laptop (Ran the game pretty good until I loaded it with expansions).
Of course these screens are extra crunchy since there are the snapshots and not the higher resolution screenshots.

I think I was trying to do some sort of ship build where it would be surrounded by water. I guess I probably learned basements through the Prima guide for this game.
Besides the glitched out door model, this pic has an interesting backstory. First custom neighborhood I did. My dumb ass took all the lots from the three included basegame hoods, threw them in the lots bin and threw them into one hood. For those not familiar, doing with lots that have sims can cause a lot of glitchy bruh. I moved a family into the Federal Fortress (largest premade included with the base game). I slapped a bunch of holiday decor in the front yard, threw a bunch of random paintings in the foyer and clustered a bunch of lamps together.
Looks like I was trying to make a grocery store with a patio and a pool.
Was doing a living room with mostly stuff from the Holiday Stuff pack. Fireplace to the right, tree in the center and the couch to the left. There is a dining table in the foreground and a multi story window in the back. I was fascinated with them since these were not a thing in TS1.

uh so it started snowing and this penguin showed up and started animatedly talking to the "snowman" (which is... missing a head... and any sort of facial features!?) one of my Sims built.

Okay, let's see if the Sims 2 update actually fixed the things.

Apparently, it won't fix any existing save files so it is time for a new family, the old one is dead to me. Literally, coz they couldn't eat and therefore starved.

With Sims 2 being a clusterfuck on re-release (colour me shocked) i'm dipping into Sims 3 which I never really got into at the time.

Sims 1 was fun at the time, but the difficulty now is too chaotic.

Sims 4 LOOKS very lovely, the graphics are a delight, the gameplay is somehow very empty indeed. I've spent hundreds on packs, expansions, kits etc trying to get a GAME out of it, and for whatever reason it's just not there.

Sims 3... I don't know what my issue is. It looks fine, I enjoy the open world where you can bop around the town without loading screens, I like the game play broadly it's just not grabbing me.

Sims 2, which is old and ugly and clunky and looks extra bad on modern PCs, still has the best actual game play. I look forward to a patch so I can play with it again. I do have the freebie one, but it's a pain in the tits to get it to run.

"Lyn, I didn't ask" no but you WERE wondering what my thoughts are on Sims games. You just didn't know it.

It is now working, and it is the classic Sims 2 experience in that Delilah made a big serve of spaghetti and then put it on the floor for her family and guests to scrabble around on the carpet to get.
