I have no idea what type of building - office, substation, bunker, warehouse or something - is hidden behind this unusual façade. A strange honeycomb structure that looks mysterious, forbidding and perhaps a little cruel. You can see in detail that there are slits on the lower edge of some of the honeycombs. What is supposed to penetrate through them? Uniquely designed cube-shaped houses in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Designed by architect Piet Blom, they are tilted at 45 degrees and set upon hexagon-shaped pylons, creating a visually striking architectural effect. The buildings have bright yellow and blue facades and are surrounded by people and plants in the foreground.

Moving away from the design museum, soon the Vitra Slide Tower by Carsten Höller comes into sight. Unfortunately, at the time of the visit, it was closed.

Another shot on the Frank Gehry building at #Vitra Designmuseum in Weil am Rhein, #Germany, near the border to #Switzerland, #Basel.

From this perspective the dynamic an multilayered structure of the building is more evident. The Nike Swoosh complements the architectural gesture nicely, which I believe is the reason they decided to paint it so prominently.

The Viennese architects coophimmelb(l)au were commissioned to build the new Musée des Confluence. coophimmelb(l)au designed a UFO that hovers like a silvery cloud over the mouth of the Saône and Rhône rivers. This daring landmark architecture - similar to the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in Hamburg or the capital's airport in Berlin - turned out to be a spectacular multi-million-dollar disaster. But the image gain quickly outweighed these disadvantages.
