»#Mearsheimer: Der Grund für diese Kriege war die Ausdehnung der Nato – nicht Putins vermeintlicher Imperialismus.«
Warum interviewt der Spiegel in 2025 noch so einen Clown?

@tio if you have an open mind its worth reflecting on the following statement:
NATO is an anti-Russia coalition.
Its probably a good thing there's an anti-Russia coalition; but pushing to continuously expand it is directly opposite to keeping peace. In fact I would argue it is closer to 'war-mongering' than it is to 'pacifism'.

Thank you for pointing out another propagandist. Blocked him too after reading some of his output.
I watched the #mearsheimer #JefferySachs panel. It was garbage. Chomsky or anyone who's followed his work would hose them in a minute. Sadly, even their sanitised views on US hegemon seem to be too "radical" for a majority of Americans; certainly too radical for Washington!
#USA has a "projection" problem. It projects on everyone what it actually is -- a bully in search of absolute power, and complete disregard for everyone else, constantly seeking excuses to bomb the world into submission.

In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce an American political scientist, John #Mearsheimer. He's best-known for his theory of offensive realism, for his pandering to authoritarian regimes, and for ignoring sovereignty of independent countries.
I just saw your videos of just before the war. Underrated.

You said that a big war was inevitable, while most "experts" said it was just posturing
It's amazing how much the so-called "expert" with millions of viewers actually knows nothing: he doesn't use the facts but just his speculations
While your sources: looking at what russia was actually doing and at what #putin was saying to the #russians
This piece by #Mearsheimer on the war in #Ukraine is poor. Instead of pointing out *where* he is wrong (there is too much), I think it might be more productive to offer a few points about *why* he is wrong:
a) Mearsheimer thinks he can do meaningful analyses of international politics without country specific expertise.
b ) Because of a) he thinks this conflict for #Russia is about national security and not regime security.

Did you already read Mearsheimer's new piece? What is your take on it?
IMO he underestimates russia's internal struggles (mutiny, purging of Generals, economic decline). And overestimates russian military capability (basically assumes that russia will get also Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Odessa at some point in the near future...).
I kind of feel I wasted my time reading this.

John #Mearsheimer parla con grande competenza dell'#Ucraina. Vale la pena ascoltarlo e magari tradurlo.
It’s been a real banner week for famous senior public intellectuals on #Russia and #Ukraine. First #Mearsheimer again: https://mastodon.social/@mcopelov/109928174211067199. Then #Sachs again: https://mastodon.social/@mcopelov/109942831375244683. Now #Allison again. Per Branislav Slantchev:

Bait and bleed è una strategia militare descritta dal teorico delle relazioni internazionali John J. #Mearsheimer nel suo libro sul realismo offensivo, The Tragedy of Great Power Politics (2001).
