Ja, #DerStandard ist eine gute #österreichische #Tageszeitung, der man folgen kann. Vielleicht kennt ihr die Beiträge von Andreas Proschofsky wie diesen hier? Doch darum geht es hier nicht. Dieser Artikel beschäftigt sich mit den Standard-Anwendungen von #Distributionen oder besser gesagt, der grossen #Desktop-Umgebungen.

There was an article in the weekend issue of #derStandard that enraged me a bit:

Supposedly approximately every tenth coder is a #GhostEngineer, who does not contribute significant value to codebases.

However, their source seems to be sketchy.
First of all, the quoted source was a Twitter post that was just clickbait for the poster's website. Which too, is sketchy. The linked "research paper" has not been peer reviewed, and the abstract reads like an #Advertisement for the author's AI app.

The free trial of the #derStandard digital newspaper convinced me that I really want to read their content.

I don't want to use their website though, given how bad the UX of epaper.derstandard.at is, and their regular online format (derstandard.at) contains too much clickbait for my taste (and let's rather not talk about the comment sections)...

So, I now did the old people thing and subscribed to their printed newspaper. Same articles as epaper.derstandard.at, but much better UX.

I just signed up for a trial subscription for the #derStandard digital newspaper (epaper.derstandard.at).

The user experience is not great:
- There is no way to browse it in a text-only browser.
- There is no epub download.
- You can download a PDF, but it has the same layout as the regular newspaper, and the text is not accessible. Really inconvenient.
- Firefox Reader Mode does not work for the articles.

While I think the articles are good, this bad UX is a no-go for me.
