@ashleyspencer @sunguramy well, #Carding is a "data breach" tho like all #platforms, #Shopify wants to enshure it's customers can't just easily migrate to a different platform, so they do leverage #VendorLockIn as much as they can get away, and since they are a #B2B platform, they can get away with a a lot of stuff they couldn't legally if they were catering to #consumers...

  • And since they lockdown their platform that also means they are in control (and given that platforms like Shopify specifically cater to the "#TechIlliterate" sellers that also means protecting said sellers from messing up their setup with 3rd party stuff they can't vet.

After all, I've been on the 'lever-end' myself, acting as "#BenevolentDictator" on many occasions to prevent people from messing up stuff for similar reasons...

@standev @mvilain @jerry That's propably because of that.

In fact I did that - alongside #Geoblocking - to prevent and deter #carding attempts at a fmr. employer.

  • And like many modern sites, attempts of registering an account would just get #blackholed without any notification and said IPs [the entire block allocation as per WHOIS!] temporarily blocklisted for 24 hours.

Granted this wasn't my decision but basically what the CLO & CFO saw fit as "cybersecurity and risk avoidance strategy" towards regulatory pressure by @bsi & @BaFin ...

@chort also they should implement basic #AntiFraud mechanisms.

  • You know that due to massive #damages and #chargebacks, #carding #fraudsters basically need to match both #ISP and #Geolocation of the victim who's credentials they stole jist to have a chance to be able.to cashout at all, and not have said card automatically blocked and the issuer demanding the owmer to 2FA in order to do any transaction whatsoever...

Otherwise yeah: Use a #PasswordManager and have indovodualized credentials for everything!!!

Did a serious amount of #wool #carding this weekend. Actually the processing before carding, to get soms decent floof out of a washed raw fleece using a flick brush, is most of the work. Making something out of raw fleece is so much work that you start really appreciating division of labour for production of most of the things you use in everyday life. At the same time it is fun to go through the whole process.

Pulled out my raw chocoate brown Gotland fleece from storage, and laid it out to see what I have to work with. Am making plans.

Also just invested in a new flick carder from Ashford. My current one came with my original second hand Ashford Traditional spinning wheel, and it's in a very bad state and rusted.

It's also the reason why I had to go to ED a couple of years ago to get a tetanus shot after I accidentally stood on it 😬 #carding #spinning #fleece
