A few years back I read this book, Raven Rock, by Garrett Graff. I can’t recommend it enough. It covers the history of the Cold War and the defense strategies to protect political leadership in the event of a nuclear attack. So many fascinating details and stories. One of the things that really surprised me was how many US presidents said they wouldn’t leave the Oval Office. Eventually the strategies baked this in. Another fascinating detail was that JFK ran on a platform that promoted building more nukes, but once he became president he learned that America already had 10x more nukes than Russia. #BookReview #uspol #coldwar

Here’s my review for the #1952Club hosted by @kaggsy59 of The Tiger in the Smoke by Margery Allingham, a tense thriller set in the dense London fog. I’m still not entirely sure what to make of it! #bookstodon #BookReview #Storygraph#audiobook @bookstodon

Linda reviews The Wolf's Raven by A. Williams:
"Shawn, while running with his pack, perceives the presence of his mate and proceeds to diligently search for him, until he discovers him in flight. Ren doesn't want a mate who is unable to fly... a sweet story, where fate seemed to have to make a huge mistake. 4 stars."

Review - You Have Not Yet Heard Your Favourite Song, by Glenn McDonald: clearly a huge fan of streaming and of music, very much comes across as an apologist for Spotify. Rating: 2/5 ("it was okay").

With “Pedro and the Captain” Benedetti offered hope and dignity in times of repression (bookreview)

"Decades later, “Pedro and the Captain” remains painfully relevant. It exposes not just the mechanics of torture but the structures that support it. With minimalist setting and profound emotional depth, Benedetti delivers a powerful meditation on resistance, power, and the strength of the human spirit."
FAMILY SECRETS COLLIDE with a faraway war in this rueful, smart, funny novel—a young nurse, adopted as an Albanian infant into a blue-collar Italian-American enclave, hunts for her twin brother amid the chaos of her own life and the world’s. B PLUS
**Enough Is Enuf by Gabe Henry review – the battle to reform English spelling**
Matthew Cantor
“_In his amusing and enlightening new book, Gabe Henry traces the history of these efforts, beginning with a 12th-century monk named Orrmin, continuing through the beginnings of American English and the movement’s 19th-century heyday, finally arriving at textspeak._”

4 of 5 stars for The Mystery of the Blue Train (Hercule Poirot, #6), by Agatha Christie

I've finished the reading and rereading for The Courage to be Disliked.
We're probably a bit more digesting away from anything like a book report, if I do another one for it, but in the meantime, I did take the time to leave a review on Storygraph.
