Ever get frustrated trying to quickly look up a word on #Wiktionary on your phone, wading through etymology first? I did too.
So I built Kwiktionary: a fast, mobile-friendly interface for Wiktionary that prioritizes definitions.
Try it out: https://kwiktionary.vercel.app/
It's #OpenSource (built with #NextJs & #FastApi)! Feedback welcome. Boosts appreciated!
In another example of clever American design, wiktionary keeps redirecting to wikipedia when trying to look up a word.
In typical #WikiNow fashion, I just received a talk page message answering a question I asked in 2012 on #Wiktionary.
Sur le @wiktionnaire, mars est le mois des thésaurus ! En gros, il s'agit de créer des fiches de vocabulaire autour d'un sujet donné, en français ou dans d'autres langues. Un bon moyen de réviser ses langues étrangères. J'en ai déjà créé deux pour le gallois (une bonne occasion de constater qu'il faudrait que je m'y remette sérieusement).

Just introduced my wife to the term "widlarize" (she hadn't encountered it), and looked it up in #wiktionary
And what do I see?
That somewhat peculiar word had been selected as the Word Of The Day for next week. Funny coincidence, that.
I was looking for a parseable Wiktionary dump and discovered Kaikki.org, a digital archive and data mining group. They offer a massive, parseable dataset in JSONL format.

So the #Wiktionary entry for "poggers" has the most insane #etymology chart on it...
@Coisaestranha There !!! I found something, I'll put some of your ( in my humble opinion ) best posts in an Anki deck ), here I guessed sonhos based on Spanish, just had to check on #wiktionary to make sure #spacedrepetition #languagelearning #pt-br
> **sagacity**
> The quality of being sage, wise, or able to make good decisions; the quality of being perceptive, astute or insightful.
(i had to look this one up. Good word. Thanks #wiktionary )
Uff, mein Parser fürs deutsche Wiktionary kann jetzt die Bedeutungstexte lesen und extrahiert sogar Tags. Im Screenshot ein Jupyter Widget, das Wörter und deren Bedeutungen aus dem Wiktionary zeigt, die mit „umgangssprachlich“ getaggt sind. Wiederum sind andere Tags in den Bedeutungen mit []- oder <> notiert.

Wiktionary is a wiki, which means anyone can edit this page.
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/wiki
But if you edit the definition to say
A website that cannot be edited ever under any circumstancesThen the page, and the entire site, will immediately lock up, since wikis will cease to be editable!
currently updating the #Wiktionary page for toot, what should I add as example sentences?
and to my multilingual mutuals, how do you call toots in your language community?
#EURALEX2018 video lectures are online.

It was a wonderful decision to download aard 2 and the relevant languages from wiktionary for my phone. So far there has not been a word that I couldn't find a translation or definition for.
All free of algorithms and is from a reliable source, no internet needed either once downloaded.
#Merci #wiktionary d'avoir dédié une page au mot "#lectrice" pour essayer de convaincre une personne avec qui je travaille que non, ce n'est pas correct de dire que "'la lectrice' ne correspond pas du tout au style de notre langue française".
La preuve: #RaoulPonchon l'utilisait déjà en... 1920:

Anyway, enough Vuejs and Django for me today ! #pain
Hey #FediLZ, sagt ihr für „Stühle ranstellen“ etwas Anderes? Ich finde lauter Treffer in der Suche, aber das Verb taucht weder im #Duden noch im #Wiktionary auf.
