One of James Miller's imposing Modern Classic former bank buildings in Glasgow. This one, built for the Commercial Bank of Scotland in 1930, is on West George Street. I like the fact that Miller, who was 70 when this was built, was still exploring new styles right up until the end of his career.
These relief sculptures are over the entrances to two relatively new tenements on Elie Street in the Partick area of Glasgow. Modern buildings need more little details like this, eapecially in Glasgow, which has such a strong tradition of architectural sculptures.
