But just a great all purpose Quantum Leap.</p>
Kristoffer Lawson<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@ExtentOfTheJam" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ExtentOfTheJam</span></a></span> I think 'synthesizer' is a big word for what is there! :D</p><p>Basically it's an Intel 8049 controller that, amongst some other things, can play 1 channel 'tweaked beeps'.</p><p>The params are: pitch (0–255), duration, pitch-to-step-to (0–255), step-speed (in 72 microsecond resolution), step ... amount (unclear), how the pitch step warps/bounces, random (how much randomness in steps) and 'fuzz' (0–15, noisificates pitch).</p><p>I don't have a <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/QL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>QL</span></a> but as an old <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Sinclair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sinclair</span></a> guy, I'm fascinated.</p>

Now I use a <a href="https://maly.io/tags/mac" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mac</span></a> but mainly for personal stuff. The <a href="https://maly.io/tags/falcon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>falcon</span></a> was a nice piece of kit but tanked.</p>

I only saw the <a href="https://maly.io/tags/Enterprise" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Enterprise</span></a> for a few months in shops at the time, but don't remember anything running on them.</p>
@haitchfive<p>I was a little chary of the Amstrad form factor, I really didn't like the Amstrad CPC family, and I had to pick my nose and swallow my pride when Amstrad finally delivered a Spectrum with a floppy drive.</p><p>But if you think of it, the form factor was actually invented by Sinclair with the QL. #TheRegister celebrates the 40th anniversary of the #SinclairQL, one of the most unique slices of computing history. Arguaby a more interesting machine than the #Spectrum +2 and 3 of #Amstrad era. I feel #Sinclair’s main mistake here was positioning the #QL as only a business machine. Not understanding the power of fun and creation. After all, that’s really what life is about.

Ugh, that said this may be useless.

I watched a video yesterday that was deliberately obscuring the location filmed. From context clues and with some guesses and searching, I found it on the #map

That would've been easier via #OSM #QL. I've now learned enough to do a baby version of that query and the thing I found doesn't show up

In fact, the businesses aren't even on the OSM map. Like, not even as unnamed buildings. This would never have worked!
