@juanfr Even journalists on day one understood better than Clive Sinclair that microdrives weren't fit for purpose, and that business people could not, and would not rely on them.
At the beginning of 1985 #sinclairuser interviewed Alison Maguire, Software Director at Sinclair Research on the company's software strategy for the #zxspectrum and the promising #QL
#TheRegister celebrates the 40th anniversary of the #SinclairQL, one of the most unique slices of computing history. Arguaby a more interesting machine than the #Spectrum +2 and 3 of #Amstrad era. I feel #Sinclair’s main mistake here was positioning the #QL as only a business machine. Not understanding the power of fun and creation. After all, that’s really what life is about.
Ugh, that said this may be useless.
I watched a video yesterday that was deliberately obscuring the location filmed. From context clues and with some guesses and searching, I found it on the #map
That would've been easier via #OSM #QL. I've now learned enough to do a baby version of that query and the thing I found doesn't show up
In fact, the businesses aren't even on the OSM map. Like, not even as unnamed buildings. This would never have worked!
@Rp12Biker do you do much programming or hardware dev for either machine? For some reason I always quite liked the #QL, even if I never had one. Although the keyboard sucked, I had a Spectrum+ so the same keyboard.

It’s fun to remember that #Psion, the company famous for the #Organiser and the #EPOC OS, that became #Symbian, started life making games for the good old #Sinclair #Spectrum, such as #ChequeredFlag. They got into serious software by getting a contract with Sinclair to write a suite of business apps for the #QL.
Playing around with the phantastic #QemuLator from Daniele Tertina. It's worth it's shareware fee. After our exhibition #Sinclair #QL runs with 640k memory it's time to make some useful floppies for it. I have no experience with SMSQ/E, but it's time to get it. Are there beginner friedly tutorials about it?

Good morning my dears.
I hope I can delight your morning with a picture of our little #Sinclair collection. The picture was taken in 2019 at the #HNF (#HeinzNixdorfForum) exhibition in Paderborn at the #DoReCo retro event. The QL was used for bookkeeping in a tea shop in Berlin for many years and is originally labeled above the microdrives.
