This article and pieces in other outlets noted that #Posobiec was a 2020 election denier and a promoter of conspiracy theories who had championed Pizzagate—the bonkers idea that Democrats were running a Satanic pedophile ring from the basement of a Washington, DC, eatery. They reminded readers that last year at a conservative conference, he had proclaimed, “Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.”

I've got some pretty complicated thoughts and feelings about this, but I'll just leave it here for now without further comment:
The man who in 2016 showed up to a popular pizza restaurant with a gun, claiming there were children being trafficked in the basement, died in an officer-involved shooting on Thursday outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, according to authorities.
The invitation was one sign of how the #GOP uses figures & fictions that were once considered out of bounds to energize its activists. The counsel that #Posobiec delivered was another.
…The key to elections, he said, is that “it doesn’t matter who votes. It matters who counts the votes.”

For nearly two years, according to The Washington Post, Vance was in regular conversation by text message with
#Chuck #Johnson,
a notorious Holocaust denier who has spent the better part of a decade promoting right-wing conspiracy theories.
And as my Michelle Goldberg wrote this week,
Vance is close enough to #Jack #Posobiec
— an alt-right lunatic who pushed the vile and absurd Pizzagate conspiracy theory
and collaborated with online neo-Nazis to spread antisemitic hate
— to blurb his latest book, a polemic devoted to the idea that liberals and leftists are #Untermenschen who must be stopped lest they destroy civilization.
“As they are opposed to humanity itself,” Posobiec and his co-author, Joshua #Lisec, write,
“they place themselves outside of the category completely, in an entirely new misery-driven subdivision, the unhuman.”
These are the friends and influences that JD Vance brought with him to the United States Senate, and these will almost certainly be the same friends and influences he’ll bring to the White House if he is elected vice president.
People whom Mr. Vance has cited to explain his worldview or detail who helped shape his thinking include :
Patrick #Deneen, a professor of political science at the University of Notre Dame who has suggested that conservatives must harness the power of the state to counter “liberal totalitarianism”;
Peter #Thiel, the billionaire venture capitalist for whom Mr. Vance worked; and
Curtis #Yarvin, a prominent voice on the New Right who has argued that American democracy has devolved to the point that the country needs a monarchical leader.
Mr. Vance recently contributed an admiring blurb for a book co-written by the far-right activist
Jack #Posobiec, who promoted the “Pizzagate” hoax.
He is also listed as the author of a foreword for an upcoming book by
Kevin #Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation and a leader of the #Project2025 initiative,
a conservative governing blueprint for a prospective Trump presidency (prepared in part by many Trump allies) that the Trump campaign has tried to disavow.
J.D. Vance in Hot Water for Praising Book Calling Liberals “Unhumans”
Donald Trump’s running mate praised a book riddled with conspiracies and calling to “crush” non-Republicans.
Unhumans: The Secret History of Communist Revolutions (and How to Crush Them) was written by the #Pizzagate guy,
Jack #Posobiec,
and ghostwriter Joshua #Lisec,
with a foreword by the recently imprisoned MAGA movement architect Steve #Bannon.
The book supposedly tracks the opponents of conservatism throughout history and endorses a modern-day
#McCarthyism to root out the “radicals” from American institutions.
“On a base level, unhumans seek the death of the successful and the desecration of the beautiful,” Posobiec and Lisec claimed.
When comparing the Black Lives Matter movement to the French Revolution, they wrote: “There is no way to reason with those who manipulate the have-nots en masse to loot and to shoot. They simply hate those who are good-looking and successful.”
#Vance provided a glowing promotional blurb about the book, which is included on the website of right-wing publisher Skyhorse Publishing.
“In the past, communists marched in the streets waving red flags.
Today, they march through HR, college campuses, and courtrooms
to wage lawfare against good, honest people,” wrote Vance.
“In Unhumans, Jack Posobiec and Joshua Lisec reveal their plans and show us what to do to fight back.”
Of course, their far-right screed has dark implications.
After Trump was indicted in May on 34 criminal charges, Posobiec advocated for violent revolt against progressives.
“Take the path of the hunter, and with one singular voice, we are going to make them the prey,” he said.
Since accepting the nomination at the Republican National Convention last week,
Vance has been consistently embroiled in controversy over his past statements,
including his blatantly sexist comment about “childless cat ladies”
and humiliating rumors about having sex with a couch.
Beneath it all, Vance is still part of the intellectual
“new right” movement,
influenced by pronatalism,
techno-authoritarianism,
and conservative economic populism.
Evidently, his reading list also includes extremist, conspiratorial material
—if he even bothered to read it, before lending his name to it.
Either way, Vance gave Posobiec, and all of his dangerous and ridiculous ideas, a boost.

‘The end of democracy’
The growing prominence of Christian nationalism within the GOP has led to a scramble among pro-democracy groups to raise awareness about the risks it poses to elections and security
— a threat that’s hard to recognize when it’s dressed in religion.
Christians opposed to a nationalist ideology are among the leaders of the pushback,
speaking in churches and at universities,
countering spiritual warfare language with other biblical verses that emphasize compromise
and peacemaking.
“We must stand up to and speak out against Christian nationalism,
especially when it inspires acts of violence and intimidation,” read a statement by Christians Against Christian Nationalism,
a campaign organized by the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, which supports the separation of church and state.
Schiess, the Duke theologian, said she encourages Christians to run through a checklist when they hear powerful figures making biblical references:
“Where is the language coming from and is this an appropriate use of it?
Is this being used either to incite violence or anger or fear?
Or, is it being used to make me feel comfortable and powerful and secure?”
The idea that Christian identity is under assault resonates with high-profile conservatives,
among them House Speaker Mike #Johnson (R-La.), who displays the 
“Appeal to Heaven” flag,
a Christian nationalist symbol,
outside his office in Washington.
Johnson is among many politicians on the right who recite
#Ephesians 6:11 about putting on
“the full armor of God”
to face the Devil’s schemes.
“Obviously, this is an increasingly hostile culture,” Johnson told the audience at a Christian women’s conference in 2022 where he quoted the verse.
“We all know that. We need to understand why that is, and we need to commit to do our part to confront it. The kingdom of God allows aggression.”
At the recent Conservative Political Action Conference, a right-wing conclave now dominated by pro-Trump factions,

“to the end of democracy.”
“We’re here to overthrow it completely.
We didn’t get all the way there on January 6,

The annual Conservative Political Action Convention (CPAC) is seldom subtle. This year they aren’t just saying the quiet part out loud — they are screaming it.
At a panel session Wednesday, right-wing conspiracy theorist Jack #Posobiec said without irony or sarcasm, “I just wanted to say, 
welcome to the end of democracy.
We are here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.”
He then held up a #Christian #cross and added, “We’ll replace it with this right here. That’s right, because all glory, all glory is not to government, all glory is to God."
Was the remark in jest?
No. And the crowd knew it.
His comments got big #applause and an “amen” from moderator Steve #Bannon, who, by the way, is set to stand trial in a New York state court for fraud and money laundering in May and only escaped federal prosecution because of a presidential pardon.
As far as I have seen, no Republican attendee denounced Posobiec’s comments.
#CPAC is the annual four-day conference for extremist Republicans. In recent years it has become a litmus test for MAGA bona fides and a place to show loyalty to Donald Trump.
You may be reading about this appalling speech here first because it seems many of my brethren in the media are not reporting the story.
If you Google “CPAC,” you will get a few hits, but it isn’t on the front page of any major news organization’s website.
Perhaps they think it is so outlandish that it isn’t worth reporting.
But that is exactly the point. 
The right wing wants to topple our democracy and replace it with Trump’s authoritarian rule.
This is not hyperbole. It is not fear-mongering.
They are saying it.
