Doesn't this sound like skipping the party leadership race, in that case? The sorta backroom insider thing M Harper has been doing since killing off the Progressive Conservatives as a party?

There are plenty of progressive conservatives. They just do not have a party to represent them, other than the #LPC.

This 100%. And the way to win is NOT by moving right, it’s by being progressive.

It was a majority, of the long long historic dance of rhe Liberals/NDP.

All of Canada's best governments are Liberal NDP and have been since Canada got a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the US and Britain invading Egypt to get the Suez Canal.

The same "majority" that gave Canada Universal HealthCare.

Its a proud majority. And will be for decades. Work for it, it works for us.

Canada needs to deepen, strengthen, expand world ties, importantly with Europe.

One strong way to be "more European" is to strengthen democracy and voting with Proportional Representation.

European nations are over 90% Proportional Representation. Canadians love it. Parliament supports it, Parliamentary Committee cleared it.

Prime Minister Carney, protecting Canada runs through Proportional Representation. Protecting the Canadian Economy runs through the EU.

What strong argument for proportional representation. I hope Liberal leadership stops being smug and arrogant, hoping for majorities from 35 and 40% of the vote.

Proportional voting would produce progressive majorities every vote. But you'd have to negotiate with the greens and NDP.

And it wouldnt hurt the liberal.party. its percentage of the vote would rise and fall but progressives stay in power, racists excluded.

Yes, I think that a lot of good has come from the last few years of the #LPC / #NDP working together. Unfortunately, despite that he is a good leader and advocate, I don't think Jagmeet will be the federal NDP leader by August. The NDP are going to be, wrongly, wiped out in this election. And someone is going to have to take the blame for that.
None of which should diminish the positive legacy that Jagmeet has left on the country.

In case you're wondering how the provincial and federal versions of Canadian political parties “line up" together, you can get a good start by seeing who the Premiers of each province endorse, or don't.

Progressive Conservative leaders Doug Ford (ON) and Nova Tim Houston (NS) look to be pretty steadfast -- Poillievre-averse. 😂

Alberta Wildrose Premier Smith and Sask Party Scott Moe are full Poillievre.
