So in simple words we are spending less than what we used to five years ago. People are cutting down on basic essentials food items like sugar and salt. The government didn't want us to know the numbers. And even if we had known this, nothing much would have happened. Our ability to cope up with disasters has gone up a historic high. We don't care.
