Happy 51st B'day to Deep Space Station 43 (DSS43)!
One of my fav antennas, and at 70m diameter, the largest steerable antenna in the Southern Hemisphere, located at @canberradsn
DSS43 keeps in touch with super important missions like Voyager2, only acquirable from this station!
Read the piece I wrote about CDSCC in #SpaceAustralia: https://www.spaceaustralia.com/feature/canberras-deep-space-network-ready-return-moon
#Voyager1 starts making sense again after months of babble
Veteran #spacecraft shows signs of sanity with poke from engineers
On March 3, the mission team saw something different in the stream of data returned from the spacecraft, which had been unreadable since December.
An engineer with the #DeepSpaceNetwork (#DSN) was able to decode it, and by March 10, the team determined that it contained a complete memory dump from the Flight Data System (FDS).

An experimental antenna has received both radio frequency and near-infrared #laser signals from NASA’s #Psyche spacecraft as it travels through deep space: https://www.nasa.gov/technology/space-comms/deep-space-network/nasas-new-experimental-antenna-tracks-deep-space-laser/ this shows it’s possible for the giant dish antennas of NASA’s #DeepSpaceNetwork (DSN), which communicate with spacecraft via radio waves, to be retrofitted for optical, or laser, communications.
