These two huge plastic barrels, which I assumed were empty? Not empty. Left was half full, right is full, although some of it is likely water. An empty can of šprotas doesn't make the best fuel cap 🤷

I stopped filtering when I ran out of clean jerrycans to fill. With the tractor tank also filled to the brim, that's 120 liters recovered so far.

Won't have to buy tractor fuel anytime soon! 😁

Facor filter glass bowl, filled with a significant amount of water in the bottom, which looks murky and has black things floating in it. It's separated from the fuel on top, which looks clear and reddish brown.

More garden cleanup. Rolled up the old fence. Maybe it's reusable, but the bottom part that was buried doesn't look so good. Was hoping to use it somewhere else.

Found some more metal sheets (soviet geotextiles, rich in zinc😆), totally overgrown. There's probably more under the vegetation!

Unlike modern sinful plastic geotextile, this doesn't decay or tear to pieces either. I'm thinking of covering weeds with it.

Another concrete beam was discovered 😢

Back corner of the garden. A crooked double gate remains and some leaning section of finer mesh fence. A second goat pen is on the right. The old wire mesh fence is rolled around a branch on the ground. A red farm jack leans on the fence gate. A weedy ditch remains where the bottom of the old fence was torn out.
Trailer loaded with the fence harvest. A large roll of rusty chain link fence and posts. A bucket and a chunk of concrete are also in there. The trailer is backed into the garden, which is now possible for the first time.
Another pesky steel reinforced concrete beam, 11m long, buried and overgrown along the former fence line. The front has been dug out enough to reveal one end.

Defencestration.

Most of the fence posts pulled out easily, with a few exceptions. The fence itself however was ingrown like a bad toenail. I had to pull really hard and then clear a bunch of soil, roots and weeds off the bottom.

A young maple (those really like to self-seed around here) and some thorny monstrosity that had incorporated several fence links got extracted, too.

Now there's room to expand the garden with some no-dig beds :)

A lot of soil has been torn out where the fence was deeply embedded in it. If you look closely, you can see another overgrown concrete beam that was missed at the last harvest. Also one of the many pieces of galvalum sheetmetal laying around everywhere.
A pile of former fence posts laying on the ground. Most are galvanized steel pipes, a few rusty ones, a large steel beam with concrete footing and some weird profiles made of weird material with weird gunk stuck in them that I have no idea what they once were, but they're lousy fence posts. Behind a few tractor cab windows that were leaning on the fence, a bucket to collect various trash found in the process and an upside down beer crate with reclaimed ceramic tiles.

I seem to spend at least two thirds of my time just moving things from one place to another.

Today I wanted to remove a section of fence from the garden to start a no dig bed.

But that required a lot of other things, including moving this trailer from the front of the barn to the back of the barn.

Threw some stuff onto it on the way, like a dump truck side wall that was acting as a bridge to the old outhouse.

Old farm-welded trailer made from steel bars, sheet metal and some piping. Wooden sticks are in the pipes to extend them. Some dirty wire rope is parked on top of it. A compressor is next to it, having just reinflated the flattish ancient tyres.
Same trailer, now hitched to a small blue tractor. It's got a big old log under the hitch for parking. The wire rope is now in front of the trailer and a large rusty dump truck siding has been slid on the back. A crooked old shack is leaning heavily behind. The ground is grass and old oak leaves.

Cleaning up behind the big barn.

There's a lean-to to rebuild and a crumbling straw insulated animal shack to remove.

But first, picked up some stupid disintegrating plastic. At least 80% of it, the rest was just crumbling away.

Got a few loads of sauna fuel and a little firewood from this.

More to clean yet. I want to make a crap, err, treasure store back there where I can keep some of the salvaged stuff until needed.

Behind a large log barn, a lean-to that has already been emergency patched a few times. The ground is partially covered in nettles and old logs, a steel door and other treasures are laying around. A few bushes grow into part of the scene. Another corner of a roof is on the right, close to the camera.
The ground, a disintegrating clear plastic sheet mixed with leaves and old branches cut to firewood lengths that have turned green with some lifeform. A white plastic sack stands ready to receive the mess of plastic as far as possible. A foot clad in a standard edition plastic clog is visible on the right.
An aluminium wheelbarrow loaded high with the help of support sticks. The load is old poles cut to length to fit a sauna burner. The poles are partially rotten, cracked and have some hay hanging off one. On the left part of the animal shack that is double walled with straw between, but the outer wall is falling apart. A sprouting meadow completes the background.
The floor of the lean-to is now cleaned up to bare soil. The plastic and leaf mix is in the chickenfood sack. Next to it some old PVC flooring that is also partially disintegrated but cannot go into the regular recycling bin. The lean-to wall has a broken plank and there are some big field stones on the ground. The barn foundation is made of more of those. Behind the cleaned up area, more junk and a few trees and shrubs.

Etwas später, unsichtbare Sonne hinter unsichtbarem Zenit. Wind schüttelt einige Tropfen aus der Fichte. Mittagsbier und Zigarette neben dem Gemeindehaus. Viele der Sticker an Lichtmast und Geländer sind ausgeblichen und schreien trotzdem noch. Auch: Altes aufräumen. Dinge wiederfinden, die man nicht suchte. Was war eigentlich die Erwartung? Immer noch Schleier über Feld und Wald.
