The Trump gang, in their quest to kill off diversity, equity and inclusion, has flagged over 26,000 items on the Defense Department's website, marking them for deletion.
One is a photo of the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Why?
Because it's called the Enola Gay. 
But there's really serious stuff going on, like an attempted total erasure of trans people:
January 20th - Trump signs an executive order declaring the federal government will no longer recognize transgender people by defining sex as strictly male or female based on characteristics at birth.
January 23rd - State Department freezes trans passport applications.
January 27th - Trump signs an executive order barring transgender people from enlisting in the military.
January 28th - Trump signs an executive order ending federal support for gender-affirming care for people under 19 by directing federally-run insurance programs like TRICARE and Medicaid to exclude coverage for such care.
January 29th - Trump signs an executive order barring federally-funded schools from allowing transgender students to use names, pronouns, bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams that align with their gender identity. (It's not clear he has the power to do these things by executive order, but he's trying!)
January 31st - The Social Security Administration directs field offices to put an immediate halt to all sex identification changes in its Numerical Identification System.

Gay used to mean happy, or fun, as in "have a gay old time."

And it was also a female name, which is how it got attached to the bomber (named after the pilot's mother).
I have a close friend whose middle name was originally also Gay (after a relative), but her parents changed it when she was still a baby. She has said that she thinks that they shouldn't have changed it because it's nothing shameful. Fortunately she doesn't work for the federal government.

It still does. But its other meanings are not new, they were just not as well-known.

@cbaberle - thanks! It's a very scary time. I figure some people outside or even inside the US don't even know what's going on.
And you can add Texas proposing a bill to make being Trans a Felony to the list.
