Andy Baker<p>UNSW has a field station in the Central West of New South Wales. A former pastoral science property on Wiradjuri country, since 2010 a groundwater research facility. And since last year, an Australian Critical Zone Observatory. It also has spectacular sunrises and a shed of my dreams. I'm just back from there, with some photos in case <a href="https://aus.social/tags/fieldworkthursday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fieldworkthursday</span></a> is a thing.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/fieldwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fieldwork</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/sunrise" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sunrise</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/CZO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CZO</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/groundwater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>groundwater</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/vadosezone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vadosezone</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/windmills" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>windmills</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/academia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>academia</span></a></p>

Kris Kuhlman<p>We just published a <a href="https://mas.to/tags/newpaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>newpaper</span></a> with an analytical solution for the <a href="https://mas.to/tags/thermal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>thermal</span></a> response observed during <a href="https://mas.to/tags/imbibition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>imbibition</span></a> of water. This allows estimation of the thermal diffusivity, tortuousity, and hydraulic properties from a single lab test.
