Borutzki<p>Looks like now you can become "Robot Framework Certified Professional" for €240 🤖</p><p>Even if you don't plan to do the whole examination, it's worth taking a look on the syllabus. For me, it looks like a singular document that I would point to whenever asked by someone about "how to learn Robot Framework".</p><p>What do you think about such certification? Is it worth the price?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RobotFramework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobotFramework</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Python</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Programming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DailyPythonista" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DailyPythonista</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/certification" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>certification</span></a><br><a href="https://cert.robotframework.org/certificates/RFCP" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">cert.robotframework.org/certif</span><span class="invisible">icates/RFCP</span></a></p>

Maaret Pyhäjärvi<p>Listing top 3 reasons to avoid <a href="https://mas.to/tags/RobotFramework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobotFramework</span></a> in conversations over this week. </p><p>1. Rats abandoning the ship. When commercial successful companies on top of it are dropping it in favor of Python without it, it means something. </p><p>2. Islands of one. Test automation investment that is a series of commits by one person at a time significantly cuts the value. </p><p>3. LLMs and community size. This is relevant for tool supported future. Betting on a real programming language is better bet.</p>

Like, how do I attach my gdb to inspect issues?</p>
Markus Stahl<p>𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗯 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 🤓 </p><p>📣 Big shoutout to linguist project for ensuring quality PRs and the team that guided me through the process 🙏 ! That's why I like open source. No closed source business would be able to provide this service. See it, fix it. 💪 </p><p>For historians, the PR: <a href="https://github.com/github-linguist/linguist/pull/6500" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/github-linguist/lin</span><span class="invisible">guist/pull/6500</span></a></p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/robotframework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>robotframework</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/github" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>github</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/linguist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linguist</span></a></p>
Borutzki<p>Finally I've come to a point in which I'm switching jobs. </p><p>Even though I am still fascinated by the stuff I do on a daily basis using <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Python</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RobotFramework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobotFramework</span></a>, I got pretty tired with the unproductive discussions and repeating problems that I have to constantly provide support for. </p><p>Of course money is the concern, too, but I think that switching environments became more important in this case. </p><p>I wonder what I'll tell a few months from now about my new job but now I am simply excited.</p>
Borutzki<p>Recently I’ve decided to start some side projects in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Python</span></a>. </p><p>The first one is a parser for notes from <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Kindle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kindle</span></a>. Simply take the `My Clippings.txt` file, build some database and then use this database to export notes and highlights to CSV, Excel or whatever format that may come to my mind.</p><p>The other one is a refactor of `SSHLibrary` for <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RobotFramework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobotFramework</span></a>, now seemingly dead. Improvements of structure, update of dependencies, adjustment for new Robot Framework and Python versions.</p><p>Wish me luck 🐍</p>
Borutzki<p>Yeah, it's one of these days when you miss a dollar sign, then you add it but accidentally add space somewhere else and then another variable's name is changed without replacing it elsewhere 🦊</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/robotframework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>robotframework</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a></p>

Alice 🔥 End Of An Era<p>Yesss, okay, good. I have a <a href="https://yiff.life/tags/docker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>docker</span></a> compose setup now for the test containers and a bash script to start them up and run the tests, then stop and clean up after. :alicehappy: </p><p>Going well so far! Now to just write the <a href="https://yiff.life/tags/Selenium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Selenium</span></a> tests. And possibly look into <a href="https://yiff.life/tags/RobotFramework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobotFramework</span></a> again... Probably gonna do that, actually. I hate writing in that language, but the output is too useful for this to just leave it out. :alicesideeye:</p>
Markus Stahl<p>Found out that there is a Mastodon instance about Open Source Software. Excitement!
