Icarosity<p>Scarlet tanager friend in the woods this morning. My favorite neotropical migrant. This fellow leaves no doubt that spring migration is in full swing in eastern PA. Also heard oriole, great crested flycatcher, wood thrush, veery, ovenbird and the Merlin app heard more. </p><p>It's go time!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/bird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bird</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BirdsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BirdsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ScarletTanager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ScarletTanager</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SpringMigration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpringMigration</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Pennsylvania" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Pennsylvania</span></a></p>
Icarosity<p>Swamp sparrow and a veery hunting invertebrates in a spring in the woods this morning. I got even better pictures of the veery but I like this one with the moss. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BirdsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BirdsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mosstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mosstodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SpringMigration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpringMigration</span></a></p>
Sabine<p>The garden seems to be Woodpecker Central today: male Hairy WP, female Downy WP, and three Flickers simultaneously. <br>Only the Pileated is missing.<br>These two female Flickers seemed to squabble about whose garden it is. They performed quite a dance around each other.</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/woodpecker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>woodpecker</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/SpringMigration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpringMigration</span></a></p>
Sabine<p>Yesterday the Northern Flickers returned, they seemed to be everywhere.<br>Small patches of grass in the garden are now free of snow, and this male Flicker spent the afternoon poking into the ground to find some ants or larvae. It's likely our resident Flicker 😍 .<br>Photo taken through the dirty window.</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/woodpecker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>woodpecker</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/SpringMigration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpringMigration</span></a></p>
