Mika<p>I love Kate, and I think it's nuts to have an app like that as the "default" text editor on <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/KDE" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#KDE</a> when you compare to what you get on other OSes like Notepad on <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Windows" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Windows</a> and <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/TextEdit" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TextEdit</a> on <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/macOS" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#macOS</a> :blobfoxboop_w_:<span><br><br>I think the only 2 things that subtly </span><i>spoils</i> my experience using Kate if you're familiar with other options the likes of <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/VSCode" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#VSCode</a>, <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Sublime" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Sublime</a><span>, etc. is 1) you cannot open links found in your text through a (combination) click, something you could do in a lot of other text editors, even the terminal, and 2) just little things like the fact that it's unnecessarily awkward to go the next/previous (text) match when trying to find a particular word in your file - this is so jarring bcos this basic thing should be easy but on Kate, it's... awkward due to the out of place and dynamic positioning of the buttons.<br><br>But all in all though, besides the two points, it's an insanely solid option - I love the design, its plugin system (tho I avoid using it since it's for me more so a Notepad/</span><a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/NotepadPlusPlus" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NotepadPlusPlus</a><span> replacement (i.e. default text editor) rather than a VS Code replacement), and just ease of use. Things I need on my mobile, my tablet and my computer perfectly in sync. </p><p>Now I exported my Notion Knowledbase (pocket-like webpage storage) of ~800 articles into <a href="https://nrw.social/tags/Obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obsidian</span></a>.
