Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:<p>So there i was, pooterising away from my own home, on dad's pooter, inside the <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/KFedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KFedora</span></a> VM i'm still setting up, via <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/RustDesk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RustDesk</span></a> [which today has behaved much better than t'other day] when abruptly the connection failed &amp; RD insisted that the remote pooter was offline. Cobblers, i said to RD, &amp; kept on retrying, but it insisted. Same story. Bloody RD, i moaned, &amp; launched <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/AnyDesk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AnyDesk</span></a> in spite. Wut, same story? Are you both ganging up on me? Rang dad, asked if by any chance he's just had a blackout. Erm, yes, sheepish reply came... he tripped a circuit breaker by having too many kitchen appliances on at once. </p><p>And so it goes... </p><p><a href="https://infosec.space/tags/DadsPooterProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DadsPooterProject</span></a></p>
Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:<p>Comparatively speaking, seems to be a pretty <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/SilentFediSunday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SilentFediSunday</span></a>. Better motivate myself therefore to do a bit more in the invidious <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/DadsPooterProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DadsPooterProject</span></a> dept. Sigh.</p>

Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:<p>Tis Mon arvo. Am connected [by <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/AnyDesk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AnyDesk</span></a>] to dad's win10 pc, have fired up <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/VirtualBox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VirtualBox</span></a> thereon, &amp; atm am d/l the current <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a> ISO. Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:<p>The latest...</p><p>Am gonna remote-into dad's win10 pooter Mon arvo, &amp; create two VMs in it: </p><ol><li> a <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> one, to test his printer &amp; scanner compatibility</li><li> a win11 one 😮, so we can both begin to get a first-hand feel for what it's like </li></ol><p>If Test1 fails, i will have to finally accept that dad's never gonna become another <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Penguinista" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Penguinista</span></a>, coz ongoing use of his printer &amp; scanner is absolutely non-negotiable; he uses these HEAPS of the time every week, &amp; whilst i don't care about printing &amp; scanning <em>at all</em>, to dad these are absolute showstopper issues. I feel a sense of gathering gloom... 😨 </p><p>The corollary ofc is that if Test1 fails, the only remaining option is to proceed with accepting win10's persistent nagging finally, &amp; do the upgrade to win11, with all the horrors that entails. 😱 </p><p>I feel dirty <em>already</em>, sigh. </p><p><a href="https://infosec.space/tags/DadsPooterProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DadsPooterProject</span></a></p>
