Today, two people I live with received a letter. It told them about an upcoming change to the agreement of their (shared, presumably) Halifax #CreditCard.

Except... they don't have a shared Halifax credit card. Could it be a #scam? Some sort of #phishing attempt, maybe, or perhaps somebody taking out a credit card in their names?

I happened to be in earshot and asked to take a look at the letter, and was surprised to discover that all of the other details - the last four digits of the card, the credit limit, etc. - all matched MY Halifax credit card.

So yeah: Halifax sent a letter to me, about my credit card... but addressed it to... two other people I live with‽

I spent on the phone with Halifax, with two different advisors, who couldn't fathom what had happened or how. My credit card is not (and has never been) a joint credit card, and the only financial connection I have to the people on the letter is that I share a share a mortgage with them.

Halifax have promised to to respond to my complaint within... eight weeks. Just brilliant.

The records show that the employees inadvertently shared a #GoogleDrive folder containing the sensitive documents with the entire #GSA staff, which totals >11,200 people, acc/to the agency’s online directory.

The information shared also included the details of a proposed blast door for the #WhiteHouse visitor center, the records show, as well as #bank account information for a vendor who assisted with a #Trump admin news conference.

With the challenge in mind, I thought while shopping in town, maybe there would be some nice windowsills, with some beautifully arranged flowers (that would have been a classic). And then I saw this one, which fully lived up to the literal meaning of a "Fensterbank" (literally it translates to "window bench"). Just take a seat.

The picture shows a windowsill of a store that is completely covered by a simple wooden bench. It was attached directly to the windowsill. The bench consists of nine or ten rectangular wooden bars, which are mounted in such a way that they form a right angle on which you can sit. There are paper cards in the window, and the word “new” is written in yellow curved letters on the window. The window reflects the buildings on the opposite side of the street and a thin vertical line of blue sky. i wonder if there is still a #bank in #canada with a unambiguous position to continue to maintain their operations based on verifiable, testable software, reproducible, traceable transactions and human interaction, without using llm-based #ai. asking for a friend.
