rdm<p>I'm sure you've all asked yourselves the question that used to keep me up at nights - "If the moon were transparent, what would an eclipse look like?" - right?</p><p>You never asked yourself that question? Why not? </p><p>Well, never mind, here is your answer. I commissioned the local mad scientist to create a moon transparenciser and a gravity gun to change the orbit to get a solar eclipse just where we wanted it. </p><p>We put it back afterwards, I'm sure no-one noticed. And the transparenciser wore off after a few minutes. But it was enough for me to get this photo. </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/astrophotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>astrophotography</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Astrodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Astrodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>astronomy</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/MadScience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MadScience</span></a> <br>(Or maybe it is just a <a href="https://aus.social/tags/DoubleExposure" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DoubleExposure</span></a> )</p>

AllanICarswellObservatoryEarthshine nights are coming up on April 30 and May 1! These are the best nights to see the dark portion of a crescent Moon because the Sun’s light reflects off Earth and illuminates the Moon.
