abolitionmedia<p><strong>If the US Launches a Ground Operation Against Yemen, it Will Backfire</strong></p><p></p><p>Frustrated by its costly ongoing offensive campaign against Yemen, the Trump administration is said to be in talks to launch a ground effort aimed at seizing the strategic port city of Hodeidah, before effecting regime change in Sanaa. If this offensive does occur, it will result in a disastrous defeat for Washington.</p><p>In 2015, when then-US President Barack Obama backed the Saudi-led coalition’s war on Yemen, Riyadh had estimated that it would only take a few months to uproot the Ansar Allah leadership that had taken over Sanaa. Instead, they faced defeat after defeat at the hands of a highly-motivated armed force that received the backing of the majority of Yemen’s Armed Forces.</p><p>A decade later, despite the 2022 ceasefire, the conflict remains unresolved – and Ansar Allah’s power has only continued to grow. The movement that once seized control of Sanaa with the backing of key elements of the existing power structure, including segments of the military, was a shadow of what it has since become. Not only has it forged strong alliances with various tribal factions across Yemen, but it has also made leaps and bounds in developing both offensive and defensive weapons technologies.</p><p>The Yemeni Armed Forces that aligned with the Ansar Allah-led government proved capable of holding off the combined power of the Saudi-backed and UAE-backed Yemeni forces, in addition to various militant groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS, also battling Saudi Arabia’s armed forces and later mercenary fighters from Sudan and elsewhere. They fought on the ground for years, amidst a US-Saudi blockade in the Red Sea, combined with US-British-‘Israeli’ logical support being provided to their enemies, backing Riyadh’s air attacks against the country.</p><p>While managing to inflict countless defeats on what was supposed to be a militarily superior opposition – on paper – the Yemeni government in Sanaa continued to expand its power and territorial control in a country that has historically been divided between north and south.</p><p>In late 2021, game changing technological advances introduced a new dynamic to the conflict, ultimately pressuring the Saudi-led coalition to accept a UN mediated ceasefire proposal. By early 2022, after an expansion of the ground war the previous year, the Yemeni Armed Forces had launched a wave of successful drone and missile attacks at targets across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia.</p><p>While Riyadh had been dealing with Ansar Allah’s drones and missiles for years by that point, it was clear that a significant technological advancement had occurred. And whereas the Saudi State had some capacity to absorb limited attacks on its vital infrastructure, the Emirati regime was far less equipped to withstand repeated blows from Yemen.</p><p>Abu Dhabi in particular cannot afford to absorb sustained waves of drone and missile attacks, especially if Dubai becomes a target. Unlike Saudi Arabia, the UAE is a tiny and vulnerable country. If Yemen decides to blanket them with strikes, their endeavors to diversify their economy will likely disintegrate, and no amount of deals with the US nor the Israelis can help them.</p><p>The claims that are being spread, particularly across Arabic language media, speculate that a Saudi-UAE backed force of about 80,000 soldiers is being amassed in order to launch an offensive aimed at seizing Hodeidah. Then, so goes the report, the US will offer air support and even launch a smaller ground attack to invade Yemen.</p><p><strong>Donald Trump’s Vietnam?</strong></p><p>Yemen was once dubbed Egypt’s Vietnam – and if the United States decides to launch a ground campaign there, the outcome is unlikely to align with President Donald Trump’s intentions. Already, the air campaign alone, which has already killed around 150 civilians, has proven to be an embarrassing failure, costing US taxpayers billions of dollars with little to show in return.</p><p>Despite this war of aggression against Yemen being launched without a popular mandate, nor congressional approval, the US corporate media have largely chosen to ignore it. Yet, if Trump sends boots on the ground, Yemen will quickly dominate headlines, for the simple reason that US service members will start returning home in coffins.</p><p>So far, the Yemeni Armed Forces have limited their confrontations with the US’s naval fleets to defensive maneuvers, meaning that they have not been attempting to sink ships or aircraft carriers and are focused on defending their nation. If a large-scale ground operation is launched, the defensive posture will shift to one of offense.</p><p>The ground campaign will not only be costly and far from a walk in the park, the US will also endure direct hits to its vessels and significant casualties. Additionally, we should expect major attacks on both Saudi and Emirati infrastructure, which will disrupt oil markets. It is also very likely that US bases located in the Arabian Peninsula and beyond will come under attack.</p><p>Furthermore, we should probably expect occasional strikes against the Zionist regime that will be more intense than previous waves. If we begin to see the civilian death toll climb dramatically in Yemen, while the war is overtly an American-Zionist aggression, the way in which Ansar Allah will deal with it won’t be restricted any longer. On top of this, it could even end up uniting the people of Yemen to an even greater degree as a result, including factions and tribes that have always been at odds with Ansarallah.</p><p>Yemen is not Iran, but it has the capacity to inflict considerable losses on the US-allied regimes surrounding it and can target US forces directly. The question then becomes, can Riyadh and Abu Dhabi endure continuous barrages of munitions being fired towards them? Also, when the war lasts much longer than anticipated and the proxy ground force used to attack Yemen is suffering severe losses, as American soldiers return home in body bags, what will the strategy be then?</p><p>Will the 80,000 strong force continue to fight if they are suffering considerable losses, all in order to achieve a victory for Zionist strategic interests? Or will they begin to experience serious morale issues and defections? Will the US public be able to stomach the losses, and can the US military itself justify the loss of assets in a pointless fight to please their Zionist allies?</p><p>There will be no benefits to launching such an assault, and the US has not amassed nearly enough ground troops to launch a war alone. On every level, this would be a catastrophic strategic blunder. If they lose, this would be an embarrassment of historic proportions and nation-defining victory for the Sana’a government, despite the immense civilian suffering that will inevitably come from the war. All of this leaves out the potential involvement of other regional actors who may take advantage of the situation too.</p><p>If Trump decides to go ahead with such a conflict, in order to please his Zionist ally, it will greatly backfire. abolitionmedia<p><strong>Ansarallah Launch Missile, Drone Attack on Zionist Targets in Tel Aviv, Haifa</strong></p><p></p><p>The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Wednesday two military operations against vital Zionist targets in the occupied Palestinian territories.</p><p>The YAF’s Missile Force carried out a top-tier military operation targeting a vital Zionist site in the occupied Haifa area using a hypersonic ballistic missile, spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said.</p><p>He confirmed that the missile successfully reached its target and that the Zionist interception systems failed to stop it, adding that the strike caused widespread fear and panic among settlers, with more than two million Zionists reportedly rushing to shelters.</p><p>Meanwhile, the YAF’s UAV Unit carried out another military operation, attacking another vital Zionist site in the occupied Palestinian city of Yafa (Tel Aviv) with a drone of the Yafa type, the spokesperson added.</p><p>Saree said the operations were in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their Resistance and in rejection of the genocide in Gaza being committed by Zionists with US support.</p><p>The YAF spokesperson reiterated that the Yemeni people will neither retreat nor abandon their religious, moral, and humanitarian duties and will continue their path of Resistance in support of the oppressed Palestinian people until the Israeli war on Gaza ends and the siege imposed on the enclave is lifted.</p><p>On Tuesday evening, US aircraft carried out four airstrikes on the al-Salem district in Saada, northern Yemen and US-led strikes targeted Kamaran Island in the Red Sea in western Yemen, in addition to two airstrikes on the al-Salif district.</p><p>The bombing came after the YAF announced downing an American MQ-9 drone off the coast of Hajjah province that was conducting “hostile missions” in Yemeni airspace.</p><p>Saree said the US drone was shot down with a domestically produced surface-to-air missile, noting that this marks the seventh MQ-9 drone downed in April alone, and the 22nd since the beginning of the YAF’s military operations in support of Gaza.</p><p>In the same briefing, Saree mentioned that the YAF forces carried out two military operations targeting the US aircraft carriers USS Harry S. Of these, 18 were downed during the “Promised Conquest and Sacred Jihad” campaign in support of Gaza.</p><p>Earlier today, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced that Yemeni air defenses successfully targeted and downed the American drone, with footage of the wreckage later made public.</p><p>Saree stated that this marks the third US MQ-9 drone shot down within the past 10 days. abolitionmedia<p><strong>Ansarallah Maintains Resistance, US and Zionist Regime Rampage Continues</strong></p><p></p><p>The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) engaged in an hours-long battle with United States Navy vessels in the Red Sea, spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree stated.</p><p>Saree underscored that this is the third round of clashes between the YAF and US vessels by the YAF in the past 24 hours. He explained that in the latest round of confrontations, the YAF’s branches, including the Rocket Force, Navy, and the Unmanned Air Force, fired multiple cruise missiles and one-way attack drones at American vessels.</p><p>Emphasizing that Yemeni operations against US Navy vessels will continue, the general stated that the attacks will intensify progressively.</p><p>“The Armed Forces’ operations against the Zionist enemy—blocking its navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea and targeting its military and vital facilities—aim to halt the genocide against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza, which continues in full view of Arabs, Muslims, and the entire world,” the statement underlined.</p><p>“These operations will not stop until the aggression against Gaza ends and the siege is lifted,” Saree concluded.</p><p>Earlier on Tuesday and amid ongoing US aggression against Yemen, which has resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, the YAF targeted the hostile American MQ-9 drone over the Marib governorate using a domestically manufactured surface-to-air missile.</p><p>The strike marks the 16th confirmed downing of an MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) by the YAF since the Zionist aggression on Gaza began in late 2023. The successful strike also meant that this is the 20th overall US-operated MQ-9 drone downed by the Yemeni Armed Forces. including during the period of the US-backed war on Yemen.</p><p>Although the US has relentlessly bombarded Yemen for weeks in an effort to break Sanaa’s support for the Palestinian people, Yemeni forces continue their retaliatory strikes. The latest US raids targeted a school and a health center in Saada governorate, highlighting the devastating humanitarian toll of Washington’s ongoing military campaign. At the same time, Washington is rapidly amassing military assets across the region—not only to sustain its campaign against Yemen but also to escalate pressure on Iran.</p><p>The Yemeni military media also released footage documenting the moment the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) shot down an American MQ-9 drone, along with images of its wreckage.</p><p>The US drone was downed by Yemeni air defenses using a domestically produced surface-to-air missile while it was conducting hostile operations over Marib province in northeastern Yemen on March 31.</p><p>Earlier on Tuesday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced that the YAF’s Air Defense Force successfully downed a US MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).</p><p>Amid ongoing US aggression against Yemen, which has resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, the YAF targeted the hostile drone over the Marib governorate using a domestically manufactured surface-to-air missile, Saree stated.</p><p>The operation marks the 16th confirmed downing of an MQ-9 UAV by the YAF since the Israeli aggression on Gaza began in late 2023.</p><p>Saree stressed that the YAF will continue to bar Zionist-affiliated vessels from sailing in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. However, the aggression comes after the Zionist resumed its genocidal war on Gaza, which in turn led the YAF to renew its naval operations.</p><p><strong>Hezbollah mourns commander and son martyred in aggression</strong></p><p>The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon – Hezbollah announced on Tuesday the martyrdom of Commander Hassan Ali Bdeir, known as Hajj Rabih, on the path to occupied al-Quds.</p><p>Hezbollah officially mourned Bdeir and his son, Ali, who were martyred in the Zionist airstrike that targeted a residential building in Beirut’s Southern Suburb on Tuesday dawn.</p><p>The attack resulted in the martyrdom of four people, including a woman, and left six others wounded, one of whom is in critical condition.</p><p>Hezbollah called on supporters to participate in the funeral procession of the two martyrs, scheduled for Wednesday at Rawdat Al-Hawraa Zainab in Beirut.</p><p><strong>Al-Moussawi calls for ambassadors’ summoning over Beirut Suburb attack</strong></p> <p>Earlier, Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Ibrahim al-Moussawi stated that the events of Tuesday morning have escalated the situation to a whole new level, describing it as a major act of aggression.</p><p>Speaking with the press, al-Moussawi held the international community and the United States accountable for the Zionist aggression, labeling it a crime.</p><p>“The situation is no longer tolerable,” he underscored, emphasizing that the international community is witnessing the targeting of children in their sleep and asserting that there is no justification for attacking civilians.</p><p>In response to the aggression, al-Moussawi called for the activation of top-level diplomacy to find solutions and urged the Lebanese government to summon the ambassadors of major powers.</p><p>The lawmaker emphasized Lebanon’s stance, stating, “We are not warmongers,” clarifying that “it is the enemy who has effectively ended the ceasefire agreement through its continuous raids and violations in the South, the Bekaa, and the Southern Suburb.”</p><p><strong>Resistance at full strength, readiness: MP Ammar</strong></p><p>On his part, MP Ali Ammar stated that “Hezbollah is exercising the utmost patience and restraint, but patience has its limits. We are waiting, and resistance continues.”</p><p>He added, “The Resistance is at full strength, prepared, and has more than compensated for all its losses,” stressing that this is “not mere rhetoric to boost morale.”</p><p>“The only language that works against the enemy is the language of resistance and steadfastness,” Ammar asserted.</p><p><strong>Zionist regime executes rescue workers</strong></p><p>The Civil Defense in Gaza warned of escalating execution-style killings targeting its personnel, following the martyrdom of six of its members and nine paramedics from the Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Rafah, who were found in a deep pit with their hands tied and gunshot wounds over their bodies fired by the Zionist occupation forces.</p><p>In a press statement, the agency stressed that these crimes aim to strip Gaza of humanitarian relief services and urged the international community and humanitarian organizations to take “concrete action rather than remain passive observers,” emphasizing that such violations constitute war crimes and genocide.</p><p><strong>80 Palestinians killed in 48 hours</strong></p><p>Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced that 80 Palestinians were killed and 305 others injured over the past 48 hours as the Zionist aggression on the Palestinian enclave continues unabated.</p><p>The ministry reported that on the first day of Eid al-Fitr alone, 53 Palestinians were killed and 189 injured.</p><p>This brings the total death toll since the start of the genocide on October 7, 2023, to 50,357 martyrs, with 114,400 wounded.</p><p><strong>More Casualties Across Gaza</strong></p><p>On Monday, in Gaza reports state that two Palestinians were killed and several others were injured in an airstrike targeting a tent near the Applied College in the al-Mawasi area, west Khan Younis. The Zionist military confirmed that missile debris fell on a major highway connecting Tel Aviv to occupied al-Quds, causing widespread panic.</p><p>Following the attack, operations at Ben Gurion Airport were temporarily suspended as millions of settlers sought shelter, according to Israeli reports.
