That's why it's Dyalog: Dyadic Systems and Zilog. (See the 2008 Vector supplement "Dyalog at 25.")</p><p>The System 8000 didn't have a floppy drive (and certainly not a 3½-inch floppy), but a cartridge tape drive. I suspect Dyalog 1.0 was either on a 17MB quarter-inch cartridge or a 9-track. Even if the Z8000 implementation flopped, distribution media for Unix workstations in the 1980s were primarily QIC cartridges.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/apl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>apl</span></a></p>
