Dr. Juande Santander-Vela<p>2/2 🧵</p><p>Fortunately, the Joint ALMA Observatory (and the ALMA Partnership) is not a monoculture, so not all computers run Windows, but macOS and Linux as well. Dr. Juande Santander-Vela<p>This goes well beyond what was expected from ALMA: for the first time, astronomers have been able to observe a disc around a young star in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a neighboring galaxy. It’s the first time such a disc has ever been found outside our galaxy, and is identical to those forming planets in our Milky Way.</p><p><a href="https://www.almaobservatory.org/en/press-releases/astronomers-discover-disc-around-star-in-another-galaxy-for-the-first-time/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">almaobservatory.org/en/press-r</span><span class="invisible">eleases/astronomers-discover-disc-around-star-in-another-galaxy-for-the-first-time/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ALMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ALMA</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ALMAObservatory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ALMAObservatory</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/RadioAstronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RadioAstronomy</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ExtragalacticAstronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ExtragalacticAstronomy</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ProtoplanetaryDisks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProtoplanetaryDisks</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/LMC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LMC</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/LargeMagellanicCloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LargeMagellanicCloud</span></a></p>
Dr. Juande Santander-Vela<p>El Episodio 3 se llama ¿Quiénes usan ALMA para investigar?, y en él John Carpenter (Observatory Scientist) explica cómo ALMA recibe propuestas de observación de investigadores de todo el mundo, y los mecanismos existentes para seleccionar aquellas propuestas que van a escudriñar el cosmos en cada uno de nuestros ciclos de observación.</p><p><a href="https://pequeno-universo-alma.transistor.fm/episodes/quienes-usan-alma-para-investigar" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pequeno-universo-alma.transist</span><span class="invisible">or.fm/episodes/quienes-usan-alma-para-investigar</span></a></p><p>Os podéis suscribir al podcast en <a href="https://feeds.transistor.fm/el-pequeno-universo-de-alma" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">feeds.transistor.fm/el-pequeno</span><span class="invisible">-universo-de-alma</span></a></p><p>2/2</p><p><a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ALMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ALMA</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ALMAObservatory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ALMAObservatory</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/podcast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>podcast</span></a> <a href="https://astrodon.social/tags/ElPeque%C3%B1oUniversoDeAlma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ElPequeñoUniversoDeAlma</span></a></p>
