It turns out that if you are looking for a missing thesis in the online DB for Germany, it is very useful to only put in the surname and CTRL F for the year.
John Tyndall 1850 Marburg, the only useful criteria was Tyndall.
Thus ended just over a month of searching from the end of Oct for me until last Wed 2nd.

He's the first Irish person to have obtained a maths PhD. He still spent two years studying under Bunsen. Hot Topic!

The University of California cancels its subscriptions to Elsevier journals after failing to agree on open access: universityofcalifornia.edu/pre

It should be no surprise that, as a signer of thecostofknowledge.com/, I support this decision.

But this means, among other things, that you shouldn't publish in Elsevier journals if you want UC researchers like me to have easy access to the published versions of your papers.
