Base phi (phinary) is like binary. Instead of using 2, it uses the irrational number phi (golden ratio)
It works similarly to fibonacci numbers. Consecutive digits add up to the next:
11=100
11110=101000
What’s cool is that it makes it easy to do maths with some irrational numbers. Most non-recurring base phi numbers are irrational; however, these are the integers:
1= 1
2= 10.01
3= 100.01
4= 101.01
5= 1000.1001
So… this may be a bit left field, but I want to make base phi a meme…

I know you, I laughed at you once upon a meme...

this rings so true omg "Contrary to common belief, the volume of face-to-face interaction decreased significantly (approx. 70%) in [two field studies transitions to open office plans], with an associated increase in electronic interaction. In short, rather than prompting increasingly vibrant face-to-face collaboration, open architecture appeared to trigger a natural human response to socially withdraw from officemates and interact instead over email and IM." rstb.royalsocietypublishing.or

In case you wanted to use your phone as a computer, you can put #Gentoo #Linux on your #Android phone! I've recorded a video of my phone running Linux with a full desktop with apps (for everyday tasks I'm usually on a terminal, but it's good to have a desktop as a backup!)

In the video I launch #Midori as a Web browser, #Blender 3D (and yes, I do a render while multitasking!), and The #GIMP.

Possibly the most symmetrical sentence ever constructed: "Sator Arepo tenet opera rotas", which in Latin means "The sower Arepo holds the wheels with effort."

It's easier to see why it's symmetrical if it's written in a square:

S A T O R
A R E P O
T E N E T
O P E R A
R O T A S

I’m sick to death of people being precious about #GMO produce. Functionally there is no difference between a grape bred to have little or no seed and a grape that has been modified in a lab for the same thing. Y’all are just scared of science.

But the science is sound.

@767 Thank you so much! "Creepy and characterful" is the sweetest description ever.
