#Oxford - the Cancer Research UK shop in #Headington (on the left heading out of town) has some very beautiful electric #guitars in the window today (and there were different ones last week, they seem to have found a good supply of these). I was almost tempted. The #violins they have are no use, though. A full sized lark and a child sized skylark, both lacking strings.

#TIL that in the #Baroque period musicians used smaller #violins for higher notes -like recorder consorts - as higher positions weren't part of the normal playing practice yet. In 1756, Leopold Mozart notes that these small violins have become obsolete, due to progress in #violin technique, and may be used for children to learn.
