At some point, the #Thunderbird search function became really slow and started missing results. Aargh.

Mein thunderbird weigert sich seit neustem, Podcastfolgen runterzuladen und ich weiß nicht warum. Der dialog wo ich die Datei speichern will kommt noch, aber weder in der Downloadliste, noch in den Dateien taucht das heruntergeladene jemals auf. Was könnte da klemmen? Alternativ nehm ich auch eine andere barrierefreie Möglichkeit unter windows meine Podcasts zu abonnieren und runterzuladen. #Thunderbird #AskFedi #FediHelp

@rockylhotka #Mailspring looks modern, but when I tried it a few years ago it lacked a lot of features I was used to with #Thunderbird. Also looks like they lock a lot of features behind a paywall...
Using #linux, what is a modern email app? I'm trying #thunderbird, but it feels like Outlook from a decade ago, and isn't comparable to modern Outlook - is there something better these days?

If you've updated #Thunderbird on Linux and noticed that it now got a permanent but useless system tray icon that won't go away, you can remove it by entering the Config Editor (Settings -> General, scroll all the way down) and setting 'mail.biff.show_tray_icon_always' to 'false'.

@alternativeto I think #AI is a big no-go and @social / @mozillaofficial / #Mozilla really shouldn't fuck with #Thunderbird, cuz it is already a better #alternative to #Outlook!
I have the handy #Thunderbird user agent add-on installed, which is how I noticed that an invoice recently emailed to me was apparently sent from a Windows 2000 machine.
I hope this is just some legacy user agent and these emails aren't actually being sent from a Windows 2000 relic.

#ImapNotes3 (https://github.com/niendo1/ImapNotes3) és la primera aplicació de notes (i llistes de tasques, en particular) que m'ha resultat pràctica; sincronitza anotacions entre diversos dispositius (mòbil, tauleta digital) a través de missatges desats en una carpeta Imap del vostre correu. L'app per a Android és senzilla, intuïtiva, però prou completa (per a mi).
Fins ara, només li havia trobat un però: no sembla haver-hi manera de crear notes des de #Thunderbird, o de crear-n'hi de noves. Recordant l'ús que ImapNotes3 fa de la carpeta Notes, he trobat un procediment que permet fer-ho (i afegir els requadres de control, que Thunderbird no permet crear).
Crear una llista de tasques pendents des del Thunderbird per a ImapNotes3:
1. obrir un missatge que continga requadres marcables 
2. seleccionar i copiar un requadre
3. crear un missatge nou (que serà la nota)
4. en el requadre A: , escriure la nostra adreça
5. en Assumpte: , escriure el títol de la nota
6. en el cos del missatge, tornar a escriure, en la primera línia, el títol de la nota
7. enganxar el requadre
8. escriure la llista de tasques a fer, enganxant el requadre a l'inici de cada ítem
9. prefixar l'enviament d'una còpia del missatge a la carpeta Notes clicant: Opcions / Enviar una còpia a / elmeu@correu / Notes
10. assegurar-nos d'haver escrit tot el que volíem
11. enviar el missatge.
Amb el darrer pas, ens haurem enviat el missatge al nostre propi compte i, de pas, Thunderbird n'haurà enviat una còpia a la carpeta Notes, gestionada per ImapNotes3, que era el que ens interessava aconseguir. Ara, si obrim l'aplicació ImapNotes3 des del mòbil o des de la tauleta i sincronitzem el compte, hi apareixerà l'anotació que hem creat des de Thunderbird. A l'hora d'escriure anotacions llargues, de segur que em resultarà més còmode.

Got an update of #thunderbird It immediately nudges me to donate and appeals to bad consciousness because only 3% of the users donate.
A quick search reveals: The donations go to a commercial company in the US with no strings attached and the process asks for lots of personal data.
I concluded: No wonder only 3% donate and decided myself to join the 97%
Les plantages réguliers d'#Evolution comme de #Thunderbird me font envisager de me remettre à #mutt ou #neomutt, mais j'ai la fleeemme de refaire les fichiers de config' qui vont bien.
